Your Beautiful Self

Who ever said you can't love,
What you see in the mirror.
Who was it that decreed,
You needed someone else,
To be the saviour of your lonely heart.

The shining stars up in the night sky,
Appear to us as just a glimmer.
The beginning of every bewitching flame,
Was just a little spark.

It hurts to see you trembling with fear,
Scared you'll get it wrong.
'Play the part, get it right,
Or else you'll end up alone.'

A cut flower in a bouquet is just as beautiful,
As a lone one standing strong.
Even in a dazzling meadow,
Each flower grows on its own.

Every single snowflake is different,
But each one has a unique elegance,
That it magically conveys.
And everyone sees the beauty,
Of each snowflake being itself.

Happiness with who you are,
Can often take time,
But I know you'll reach it one day.
And until that moment has come,
There's nothing else I can tell you darling,
Except to be your beautiful self.
A/N: This is my entry for the inaugural Serenity Writers Poetry Contest, run by the amazing yourfriendbri. This is my first poetry contest, so wish me luck!
The theme for it was 'yourself', and it's taken a really long time to write because I've been overthinking everything, and about what the word 'yourself' actually means, but I'm really happy with what I've written. Let me know what you think of it down in the comments, I appreciate your feedback and thoughts. Please vote if you liked it, and thanks for reading. (:
