How to Princess - Series

Chapter 7

The morning came quicker than I would have liked. I was woken by Summer's singing and I groaned as I sat up. I slid out of bed and went into the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and quickly braided my hair as stared into the mirror. I looked at my hands and smiled. I waved them infront of my face and shadows brushed past my face. They were rather cold and I shivered but smiled when they disapeared.

I now had a smokey eye and a large wing on my eyeliner. I grabbed one of Lexi's red lipsticks and swiped it on. I waved my hands over my body and my outfit changed to a black skirt and an off-the-shoulder top that cut off just above my belly button. I walked out of the bathroom and slipped on my combat boots. As I was doing up my laces I noticed my chipped nail polish.

I turned my back so the other girls couldnt see what I was doing and swiped my hands over my nails. I cracked my fingers and smiled at my perfect black nail polish. I went to walk out the door and turned to see Ava, Summer and Lexi staring at me gaping. They all had brightly coloured puffy dresses on. "Ciao" I said with a smile as I left the room.

I walked into class and sat at the back. Many girls were still whispering and pointing but I ignored them. I was comfortable and that was all that mattered. I looked across the room and saw the princes. A head of dark hair caught my eye and he turned to raise an eyebrow at me. I smiled at Jake and shrugged. I scanned the crowd and saw Tristan shaking his head at me and Ethan rolled his eyes before looking away.

I waited for Lexi to come in so I had someone to talk to. I waited and waited until she finally came in. She looked over at me and I smiled before motioning her over. She looked at me with a blank face and then turned away. I frowned and stared at the empty seat beside me. I folded my arms and sat back in my seat, crossing my legs.

A tall man with a large white beard came in. A student girl with bright red hair waved and a boy next to her with the same coloured hair groaned. "I am King Triton but you will call me Sir!" he bellowed. My eyebrows raised. "I will be teaching you about your abilities!"

I turned to see Jake smiling at me. "Some abilities have their opposites but most won't! All of you have an ability but some of you wont have found it yet! And thats where I step in!" King Triton shouted. Tristan was called up and he stood there for a second before holding his breath. His face went bright red and then hair started sprouting from his face. Soon he was covered in it and his eyes glowed green. He howled and everyone clapped. Ethan was next. He went up and closed his eyes. He raised his hand and waved it about before stopping and pointing at a girl. She had curly red hair. She stood up and breathed out a puff of blue smoke. It warped and twisted before stopping when it looked like a woman with long black hair and a grey streak. "Grandmother?" The girl said in a thick Scottish accent a bit like my own. The woman nodded and took the girls hand "Well done my child" she said softly before she disapeared. The girl looked confused and had tears in her eyes. Ethan straightened up and opened his eyes.

The lesson continued with students being called up to perform their ability.

Last was the opposites. He called up a boy who could make himself really tall and then called up a girl who could make herself tiny. He then called up Jake and Jasper. I smiled. They stood at opposite sides of the stage and glared at eachother. Jasper raised his hands and Jake scowled as he tried to move away. I frowned as I watched Jake get soaked but I didnt know how. Jasper smiled and dropped his hands. Jake scowled and clicked his fingers. A flame appeared in his palm and he threw it in the air where it stayed just above his head. He clicked his fingers again and the ball started to spin. It got faster and faster and bigger and bigger before dropping and surrounding Jake. Myself and everyone else in the room screamed. But then I heard a click and the flame was gone. Jake stood there unharmed and perfectly dry. Triton clapped.

He then called out my name and Lexi's. I frowned and thought he must have got it wrong, but Lexi stood up and walked onto the stage. I slowly got up and made my way past the judging eyes of everyone. I stepped up onto the stage. "Show us your ability Lexi!" He bellowed. Now that I was closer I had to stop myself from covering my ears he was so loud.

Lexi smiled and held up her hands. White smoke came from her fingertips and floated over to the curtains. They climbed up them and disapeared leaving the curtains a brilliant white. Triton smiled and waved at the curtains and they went back to their normal colour. Lexi smiled again and closed her eyes holding out one hand. It was dim at first but turned into a bright white shine. I watched her glowing hand in awe. She then dropped her hand and everyone clapped.

Triton turned to me and smiled. I swallowed hard and turned to face the other students. I put my hands infront of me and watched the shadows pour from my hands. They colied around my hands like snakes and crawled up my arms. They wrapped around my neck and I smiled. I twirled my pointer finger around and the shadows started to spin and come away from my body. They all came back to my hand and created a whirlwind of darkness above my finger.

I then pushed my hand up and the shadows shot into the air and made an even bigger whirlwind with me in the middle. My hair blew about and I couldn't help but laugh. My hand was still in the air and I swung it down and all the shadows dropped and disapeared into the floor. Adrenline was still pumping through my veins and I still had a massive smile on my face. Everyone looked shocked and then I saw Jake stand up and clap. I laughed at him standing there like an idiot and then another boy did it. Some of the girls saw them and jumped to their feet. Soon everyone was clapping and I suddenly felt very light-headed. I stumbled back and shadows shot from my fingers. People gasped and sat down as they watched me malfunction. I caught my balance and blinked as everything started to go dark. I stumbled again and shadows shot out of my fingertips. I yelped in surprise and they did it again. I managed to stay up straight and then my shadows started to coil around my wrists. More came up and spun around me. I raised my hands to protect my head and the action made the shadows get bigger. I screamed as they engulfed me. I was stuck in a swirling ball of my own shadows. I could hear shouts of people from they other side but their voices were muffled and I kept screaming. Suddenly the ball retracted and my shadows were sucked back into my body again. I took a deep breath and saw Jake running to catch me as everything went dark...
