"How about McDonald's?"

"Naaa too greasy"

"Kenzo? I'm down for noodles"

"Ehhhh...I have that at home too often"

"What about...Panda Express??"

"We all know that's fake Chinese food"

"Arghhh"

So far Yuzuru and I have been driving around Toronto for almost a good 30 minutes trying to finding some place to eat.

Who knew the guy could be such a picky eater?

Getting frustrated, I pull into the Eaton Centre; the main mall in Toronto.

"We're at the...mall?" He says skeptically

"Yes, because they have a food court where you can pick your own meal." I say sarcastically

He laughs at my response and we get out of the car.

We walk into the mall aimlessly. Despite living in Toronto before, it's been a while since I've been to the Eaton Centre, and this mall is HUGE.

We maneuver around a crowd of people, trying to make our way to the escalator.

Finally making it to the food court, we part ways and grab food from the restaurant of our choice.

Reluctantly, we find a table for two.

"So tell me about yourself Charlotte." He says, starting the conversation

"You can call me Charlie"

"And you can call me Yuzu"

"Yeah sure. How about 20 questions?"

"Ok I'll go first. Birthday?"

"November 9, 1996. So that makes me 19. Ok my turn, favourite colour?"

"Teal blue. How about you?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time we're done our game 20 questions, we're finished out lunch. Now we're currently walking around the mall.
"So...do you like being an Olympic champion?" I ask randomly
"Uhh yeah, I mean there's a lot of pressure for me to be perfect, but I use that stress to my advantage you know?" He says
Honestly Yuzu, I don't know. Can't relate. All the Olympic medal has done to me was give me hardcore crippling anxiety.
I should really consider retiring after this season...
"Not really Yuzu. The Olympic medal has changed my life but not for the better." I say
"Oh? How so?" He inquired
"Well for one I'm not like you. I'm not using the medal as my motivation. Actually every morning I wake up and see that medal hanging on my shelf, I'm reminded of how much of a coward I am to Canada."
"I'm sure that's not true"
I let out a light laugh, "of course it is" I say
"A gold medal isn't suppose to scare you. It's meant to remind you of all the hard work you put into training to get you to where you are." He says gently
We walk into Abercrombie because I wanted to look for some summer dresses.
So Abercrombie we went.
"I get that it's suppose to remind you of your success, but how do you keep going when people keep expecting more from you?" I asked him
"You don't have to do it for them Charlie-chan",he says while I'm looking at some cardigans, "You do it for yourself"
"Is that what you think of when you skate?" I ask
"Well..not really. I skate for the people in Sendai, specifically my family who's out there in Japan dealing with the aftermath of the earthquake, while I'm safe in Canada living my dream" he says sadly. "If anything, I'm the coward here."
"I doubt that Yuzu-kun",I say back, "You're doing it for them and they're proud of all the success you have."
And that was the moment I knew; we were broken people whose careers relied on a purpose to carry on.
