Today just doesn't seem like it's my day, now does it?

My free skate was absolutely horrible...I fell on my triple axel, I popped my triple loop, under rotated the triple flip, and the lutz combo was reduced to a triple-double. Not to mention, my landing were a bit wonky for the most part

"I really don't want to see these results..." I tell Coach while we're waiting in the Kiss and Cry 

"Charlie, I don't expect you to be perfect all the time. You're skate wasn't clean but it's not the end of the world alright?" Coach lectures 

"The free skate score please, for Charlotte Akagi of Canada.." 

"Oh god, bury me alive Coach..." I mumble under my breath 

I'm absolutely dreading this moment...

"140.73. The total score is 217.23, she is currently in second place..." 

Second? Not bad for a crappy performance, but it's definitely not one of my best scores

But Evgenia still has to skate and knowing her she'll blow my score out of the waters 

"At least you're guaranteed the bronze" Coach says patting my back 

The ladies free was just after the mens, where Yuzu stole gold once again, Patrick took home silver, and Nathan took bronze. Javi just missed the podium by a few points, finishing in fourth 

"Charlie-chan! Don't worry, your skate was still great" Yuzu greets as Coach and I meet him and Javi by the change rooms 

"Thank you Yuzu-kun. And congrats on your gold medal" I tell him, pulling him in for a quick kiss

"You two are just too cute!" Javi claps, watching us kiss 

"I'm sure you'll be a great God Father, Javi" Coach says sincerely while slapping a hand on his shoulder 

The boys and I watch Evgenia's skate from the monitors in the back stage. I hate to admit it but she's nailing her program. Every landing is clean and her spins are perfect 

Suddenly the loud sound of the crowd's cheers fill the rink, signaling that  Evgenia had finished her free program. She probably demolished my score...

"The free skate score for Evgenia Medvedeva of Russia...148.30. Her total score is 227.17"

Like I said, she destroyed my score by almost 10 points

Can you believe I still hold the world record for the highest short, free, and combined score? Neither can I. There's so many great skaters out there who could've beaten that score and many have come close...I'm just surprised I'm still holding that score

"Welp, bronze isn't too bad now is is? It's like the ugly version of the gold" I joke and the boys and I pull into a group hug

"Yuzu-kun have you seen my-" I start when I burst into our hotel room. Then I notice Yuzu speaking Japanese in front of his laptop, most likely facetiming his family in Sendai. I notice the bright smile on his face as he talks to his loved ones. It's the look I wish I could've given my parents more often when they were around. I can hear a man's deep voice, probably his dad, on the other end. He's joking and laughing with Yuzu as he lifts up his gold medal

It looks like he has the perfect family, only something I wish I could've had. The light in Yuzu's eyes shine as he speaks to them about life at the Cricket Club and...a special girl that's taken his heart....

Awe 

I can't help but smile at the sight. He's happy which makes me happy

Deciding not to disturb him, I head into the bathroom to pack up my toiletries when I notice something in the trash can

I reach out to pick up the paper and notice what it was

4 boarding passes for a trip to Sendai 

He probably threw these out after I freaked out when he mentioned meeting his family...now I feel like shit 

I shouldn't deny Yuzu this opportunity to see his family, knowing how much they mean to him and how little he sees them. In the months which I've known Yuzu, I learned from him that we should put our own problems aside to help out the ones we love 

As I leave the bathroom with the boarding passes in hand, I hear Yuzu say "I love you,goodbye" in Japanese before shutting the laptop screen

"Yuzu-kun" I start, looking directly at him

"Charlie-chan" he says in acknowledgment. Then he looks down and noticed the passes in my hands

"Charlie-chan, you don't have to worr-"

"No Yuzu-kun. You deserve to see your family and I'm willing to put my fears of meeting new people aside. You taught me that. To face my fears and put the one I love first. I'm sure dealing with the whole Romano problem was on the bottom of your list because who in their right mind would want anything to do with the Italian Mafia? You stuck it out because you love me and I love you, so we're going to Sendai to see your family if you like it or not" I say sternly, taking a seat on the bed and crossing my arms

"Charlie-chan, I love you so much. Did you know that?" he says with that bright adorable smile that I love so much 

And that's the only answer I need
