A/N: 6k words. But again, it gets thin in the end, sorry  :(

SATURDAY

By 10pm, Jason was dozing off in an uncomfortable chair, since Thalita's flight had been delayed for almost four hours when his phone vibrated from a text.

P: Hey, are you gonna buy a Xmas tree with your sister?

J: Maybe, why?

P: Tell her it'll be nice, she gets to see her tree family.

What?

Probably a joke about my sister being a pine tree for a while.

Right... weird family...

J: You do remember John's sister didn't turn into a pine tree, right?

P: Oh right. This takes the fun of it.

J: Yeah.

P: Remind me to tell this one to Thalia once we come back.

Oh, and we won't. Buy a Christmas tree, I mean.

Why not?

We never really had this tradition, not even when my Mother was alive.

When her flight finally arrived, he wasn't expecting to see her walking with crutches and her left ankle in a cast.

What? How did I not know this?

We talked just yesterday, why didn't she tell us?

Because Lita feels like she doesn't own me an explanation, EVER!

Lita?

My nickname to her. Thalita is too long.

Jason took some seconds to take her in. Thalita wasn't much different from Thalia, despite the age gap. She was shorter than him and looked light, with the black hair cut short, though not as spiked and with gray tips instead of blue. Her face didn't betray her age, and Jason wondered in amusement if she had the benefit of being immortal in this reality too. He sighed when she came close to snarling to a guy who was probably offering help. When the guy left almost running, Jason approached her, trying to take her in his arms or maybe put her arm over his shoulders. She swatted his arm with a frown.

"What in HELL do you think you're doing?"

"Helping you."

She huffed in annoyance.

"No, you're in my way."

"But your ankle..."

She raised a hand to stop him.

"We both know I could have half of my bones broken and would still be able to hand you your ass. Move."

Let her be, she's too stubborn.

Jason looked around before asking.

"Wait, what about your luggage?"

Without waiting for him, she started walking, while answering.

"In my back."

"But that's only a backpack."

"Did you forget? I travel light. Now move, little brother. I'm craving for a greasy cheeseburger. Can you believe there isn't a single cheeseburger that can be classified as edible in sub-Saharan Africa?"
