Aaron woke up with a start. He didn't know what, but he could feel that something was wrong. Cautiously, he got up from the bed the two of you share and grabbed his gun, making his way slowly to Jack's room. He peered into the crib and saw the two and a half-year-old squirming and crying softly.

"Daddy," he whispered in his sleep, tears rolling down his cheek.

"Hey buddy," Aaron cooed, scooping Jack up. "Shh shh. It's okay. I'm here, I'm here." Aaron bounced Jack on his hip until he stopped crying. "How about some warm milk, hmm? Sound good?"

Jack nodded as he buried his face deeper into Aaron's shoulder.

Aaron walked out of the room and into the kitchen. As they waited for the microwave to beep, Aaron hummed a lullaby.

Jack began to fuss.

"Not yet buddy," Aaron soothed as he took the cup out of the microwave. "It has to cool." Aaron bounced Jack awhile more before testing the bottle and giving it to him.

"Look at you," you whispered. "You're an amazing parent, Aaron."

"Thanks. You're not so bad yourself."

You swat his arm softly as Jack began to fuss.

"I got him," you offered.

"You sure?"

"Yeah, I got him. Get some sleep, okay?" You kissed Aaron softly as he handed you the baby.

"I love you, y/n."

"And I you, Aaron." You watched your husband walk back into your room before turning your attention back to your son.

"Take my hand," you sang quietly and slowly. "Take my whole life too. For I can't help falling in love with you. For I can't help falling in love with you." You kissed Jack on the forehead and carried him back to his room.
