Warning: attempted suicide | Requested by awesomepanda373 | Adaptation of s4e24: Amplification. Reid is your brother in this one.

The BAU's floor was crowded. The CDC had hijacked the office to help with the anthrax threat. JJ and Garcia were in Garcia's tech room whispering when you walked in.

"Ugh, these guys are really rude. I was in the boardroom looking at the data when they barged in and- okay something's wrong."

Garcia and JJ looked at each other pensively.

"Come on guys. Spill. What's wrong?"

"It's Spencer," JJ said carefully. "He's been infected."

You took a step back. "No, no that can't be possible h- he took the antidote- we all did!" Your breathing quickened.

"I- I know. But this is a new strand so the antidote didn't- y/n!"

You had fallen to the floor and were shaking violently. Garcia and JJ rushed over to you.

"Y/n's having a seizure, call an ambulance!" JJ shouted at Garcia. "Stay with me, y/n. Hey, hey," she cooed. "Alright, shhh now shhh. Okay, y/n breathe okay? Breathe, just breathe for me."

Suddenly the door flew open.

"The medics are on their way up," Hotch said. There was worry in his voice.

A minute later you were strapped to a gurney and being mildly sedated. JJ and Hotch got in an SUV and followed the ambulance.

"So how's he doing?" JJ asked.

"Not good. They're looking for the antidote as we speak. He's rapidly declining, though."

JJ closed her eyes and exhaled slowly. "Who's gonna tell y/n?" JJ stared straight ahead at the back of the ambulance.

"We'll cross that bridge when we get there."

. . .

You woke up slowly. You looked over and found the call nurse button.

"Hi, there!" A nurse came in and smiled brightly at you.

"Hi. Is there any way I can contact the members of my team? I wanna let them know I'm awake."

"Oh, you don't have to call them. A Mr. Aaron Hotchner is just outside! I'll send him in once he's off the phone."

Moments later Hotch was in your room.

"I just got off the phone with Morgan," he began. "Reid found the antidote and is at the hospital. They're administering it to him now, but it might be too late."

Your breathing quickened as did her heartbeat. Through tears, you managed to ask to be left alone. Hotch agreed and left. You were alone for a few hours.

"Knock knock! I've got some dinner for ya!" the exuberant nurse cried. She set the tray on the bedside table before continuing. "I think you should know, the only reason your still here is because your team is worried about you. They've requested you be held here until they give the green light."

"What if I resist? I'm over 18, I'm allowed to make my own calls once a doctor clears me."

"I'm sure I don't know. But I wouldn't try anything." The nurse gave you a joking stern face before walking out.

"Great. I don't even like Shepherd's pie." As you poked at your food with the plastic spork, a sudden wave of reality hit you. You were sure that Spencer wasn't going to survive and that you would be on your own. It was also in that moment that you realized how thankful you were that Shepherd's pie comes with a spork.

The elevator dinged and out stepped Derek Morgan.

"Hotch!" he called, walking over to his boss.

"Morgan, hi. How is he?"

"He pulled through. They're gonna keep him in for a few days for observation. How's y/n?"

"Not sure at the moment; wanted to be alone, but why don't you go in? I think the news will help."

Morgan nodded and walked in to see you.

"Hey, wonderful what's- Y/N NO!"

Morgan lunged at you; you were using the spork from your dinner to cut into your wrist. Your left wrist was dripping and bloody. Your right one was close behind.

"Y/n! Give. Me. The. Fork!" Morgan demanded, pulling at the utensil. "Y/n you don't wanna do this!"

"Yes, I do!" you shouted. "I don't wa- I can't do it. He's the only family I have I can't—" you panted, becoming light-headed from blood loss.

Morgan was about to tell you that Spencer was fine, when a team of nurses, accompanied by Hotch, ran in. Within the preceding two minutes you were sedated, more heavily this time, and your wounds were being inspected, cleaned, and bandaged.

You woke up a few times throughout the night and the next day, but couldn't stay awake for longer than 10 minutes. You eventually roused yourself for the umpteenth time and found that your arms were cuffed to the bed rails.

Sighing softly, you surveyed the room. To your surprise, you saw a stubbly Morgan asleep in a chair next to your bed.

As if on cue, Morgan woke up. "Hey wonderful," he greeted. "You really scared us there." Standing up he came over to your bed and hugged you tightly. "I was tryin' to tell you that he made it. But you didn't give me a chance."

"I'm sorry."

"It's okay. Hotch wants me to do a psych evaluation but we can do that later." Morgan smiled. He leaned in and kissed you softly.

"I'm sorry for worrying you."

Morgan shook his head. "This isn't about me. This is about you and making sure you're okay, got it?"

You nodded. "You know," you smirked, "kissing me again would make me even more okay."
