Yo I am so sorry for my lack of activity. College is pretty fast-paced. I still have all of your requests but since I'm writing so slowly I'm gonna close requests for now. Sorry.

"Where are you going?" Hotch asked.

"Gonna check on the lead we just got."

Hotch stared at you incredulously.

"What? It's not far from here! I'll get a room at the hotel, hang around the craps table until DeMark comes and ask a few questions."

Hotch shook his head. "No."

"What?" you half shouted.

"I said no, y/n. You're not going."

"Why not?" you demanded.

"DeMark is a notorious mafia member and it's not safe. Especially not alone!"

"It's way safer alone!" you argued. "I'm new to the FBI. I'm not from this town, never been part of its law enforcement... this guy doesn't know me! But he'll recognize you a mile away!"

"Y/n you can't be this reckless!" Hotch shouted.

"I'm not being reckless! I'm following a lead!" you retorted.

Hotch buried his face in his hands and sighed. "Fine. Fine! But if your actions get you hurt... don't expect any sympathy from me."

"I won't," you snapped through gritted teeth. Without another word you marched out of the field office and got in your car.

Hotch watched you storm out, tears brimming in his eyes.

"God damn. What have I done?" Hotch closed his eyes and dropped his head into his hands. He was about to go after you but Rossi stopped him.

"Let y/n cool off. Plus, maybe that is a lead."

"What?"

"Let y/n go scope it out. You're not always right, Aaron."

Hotch smiled with half of his mouth. "Alright."

"But," Rossi continued. "No harm in following in an unmarked car. Just to be safe."

Hotch nodded as he headed out the door.

. . .

When Hotch arrived at the hotel he discreetly flashed his badge at the liaison. "I'm Supervisory Special Agent Aaron Hotchner. I'm with the behavioral analysis unit of the FBI. I have another agent here who got a room and I need a copy of the key."

"Oh. Certainly. What's the room number?"

"I don't know, but the room should be under y/n y/l/n."

"Mmhmm. Ah, right here. Room 402. Give me a minute to encode the key."

Minutes later Hotch found himself in front of your room.

"Y/n/n?" he asked, knocking on the door. "Y/n I'm- I'm coming in, okay?"

Hotch unlocked the door walked in, stunned at the sight that greeted him.

You were sprawled out on the floor covered in your own blood.

"Y/n?" Hotch panicked. "Y/N! Y/N/N COME ON! COME ON WAKE UP!"

A maid who was on the floor came running in, skidding to a halt in the doorway.

"Sir what—"

"PLEASE!" he sobbed, clutching you in his arms. "Please wake up," he whispered.

"I'll call the police," the woman said quickly. She pulled out her phone and ran down the hall to get more help.

"I'm so sorry," Hotch whispered to you. "I didn't mean it. I- I love you so, so much." He gently kissed your forehead, all but giving up hope.

He almost didn't hear your faint moan.

Hotch quickly snapped his eyes open. "Y/n?"

You groaned in response.

"Oh thank god. Y/n/n! Y/n, can you hear me? Y/n I'm so sorry. I'm so so sorry." He gingerly rocked you back and forth slowly.

"Hotch?" you mumbled.

"I'm here, I'm right here. Everything's okay. You're gonna be fine," he cooed. "Help is on the way."

"'M sorry. You were right. It was—"

"Shh shh shh. It's okay—"

"...dangerous and I didn't listen and now—"

"Just rest—"

"...I'm gonna die and—"

"You're okay. Everything's okay—"

"...I didn't get to say—"

"I love you," you both said.

You smiled up at Hotch as the EMTs came in.

"I was right," you mumbled. "You do love me."
