You tapped your foot impatiently as you waited for the elevator. "Come on come on come on!" you urged. "Damnit I'm already late I don't have time for this!" you said rather loudly to yourself.

"You know it can't hear you, right?"

You whipped around and met a familiar pair of whiskey brown eyes.

"Spence," you barely whispered.

"I mean, it's an inanimate object so willing it to go faster won't do anything." Your former next door neighbor smirked. "Then again, psychologically, saying something placates the feeling of guilt slightly."

You smiled bashfully and looked away.

The man took a step closer.

"How've you been?" you finally asked.

Spencer nodded. "As well as I could be. And you? I didn't know you were back in town- what are you doing here?" His suave was quickly disappearing.

"Yeah, yeah same here. Uh, I'm back in Quantico for work." You clicked your tongue and swung your arms awkwardly, breaking eye contact. "I'm part of the BAU's tech team now." You refused to look back at your crush.

After a few moments, you decided you couldn't take the silence anymore.

"I think I'll take the stairs," you blurted, not waiting for a response.

"Y/n the-" but you had disappeared around the corner. "The elevator's here," Spencer finished deflatedly. Kicking himself, Spencer boarded the elevator, fully aware that he may have lost his only chance at a good connection with you.

When you finally arrived at the sixth floor you saw a text from Hotch.

Hotch: meeting in 5. conference room. (sent 9:04)

You looked at your watch before sighing. "I'm already late." Hoisting your bag higher up on your shoulder, you brace yourself for a lecture about punctuality.

"Hotch what are we doing here?" Morgan pressed, taking a cookie from the platter on the table. "Mmmm! Who made these?"

Rossi raised his hand. "Italian sesame seed cookie. Can't beat 'em"

Morgan nodded appreciatively at him.

"I wanted to introduce you to the newest member of our team but-" Hotch saw you through the conference room window. "Excuse me." Hotch got up and left the room to go get you.

"New team member?" JJ asked.

"Alright, who's getting pink slipped?" Rossi joked.

Everyone laughed except for Spencer.

"Reid, it was a joke. No one's getting fired today," Rossi assured.

"Speak for yourself!" Morgan laughed. "I think Garcia over there is one strike away."

"Well, I wouldn't be if you weren't such a chocolate Adonis!" she teased back.

The team's banter was interrupted by your entrance.

"Everyone, this is y/n y/l/n. Y/n will be working with Garcia as a technical analyst."

The rest of the team introduced themselves, ending with Spencer.

"Rossi made some cookies if you want," JJ offered.

"Oh great thanks!" You picked one up and were about to bite it when Spencer shouted.

"Sesame seeds! Y/n there are sesame seeds in those cookies!"

Your eyes widened as you dropped the cookie.

Spencer quickly stood up. "I'll show you to the bathroom. Can someone get some Benadryl from the kitchen?"

The team followed you and Spencer curiously.

"What's happening?" Garcia demanded, more fear than anger in her voice.

"I'm allergic to sesame seeds," you replied, slipping into the bathroom to wash your hands.

When you were done you saw Spencer being grilled by his team.

"People can be allergic to sesame seeds?" Morgan asked.

Spencer nodded. "About 0.1% of the population is."

"Okay so how the hell did you know to say something?"

"Because- uh..." Spencer's face turned bright red.

"Because we used to date," you answered.

You could see the team trying to process that.

"I'm joking, sadly." You mumbled that last part. "We used to live next door to each other. For a couple years, actually."

"Small world," Rossi commented.

Once the excitement simmered down everyone went back to work.

"Come on. I'll show you to my lair," Garica cheered.

"Wait!" Spencer called. "Can- can I talk to you, uh, right now?"

"Sure. Garcia, can you give me a minute?"

"Sure thing, cutie."

You turned back to Spencer. "What's up?"

"Did you mean it?"

"Mean what?"

Spencer scratched the back of his neck. "Um, when you said 'we used to date. I'm only joking. Sadly'?"

You tucked your lips in. "Yes," you whispered.

Spencer said nothing but grabbed your hand and gingerly brought it to his lips.

Your eyes widened. "But, the germs on hands..." You remembered how he wouldn't shake your hand when you first met.

"You're worth it."
