~*part four*~

Everyone walked out of the class except for you and Steve. You slowly made your way to the teacher's desk. He was sitting in his desk and seemed disappointed when you looked down at him.

"Well, I'm sure you both already know why you were asked to stay after class," he crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair.

You nodded your head quickly, "Yes, Sir. We are very sorry. We won't not pay attention in class anymore."

"It was entirely my fault, though. So, if you're thinking of giving us a punishment, exclude her." Steve said while adjusting his backpack. Upon the teacher's look he added "Sir."

"No! Mr—" you began, but he cut you off.

"Don't worry. It's only the first day. I'm leaving the both of you off with a warning. Just please pay attention next time. It's hard teaching kids who aren't willing to learn," he smiled. Both you and Steve smiled at him and thanked him.

You walked out the door with Steve by your side, but you had classes on opposite sides of school.

"Well, thank you for a second chance," Steve said. You smiled and nodded your head.

"I'll, uh, I'll see you at lunch?" He held one strap of his backpack while pointing at you and flashing you a half smile.

"Hmm...indeed you will," you chuckled. He laughed as he turned around to walk towards his next class. You also went on your way to your second class, History, but were stopped suddenly by someone.

The person dragged you into the Library. You tried to scream, but their hand was covering your mouth. How did no one just see your kid napping!?

"Relax, it's me," a familiar voice said. Once he let go, you kept your back towards him. You relaxed a little because you were safe, but you were still tense because it was Jonathan. You finally turned around.

"Hey.." you said while looking behind him.

"Hey, (y/n). I couldn't help but notice that you and Douchebag Harrington are friends now," he said clearly annoyed.

You sighed. Of course he didn't just kidnap you to tell you that he missed you and wished that you'd come back to him.

"It's Steve, but yes. Is there a problem?" You crossed your arms and looked directly at him.

"Are you serious!?" He threw his hands in the air, but kept his voice at a whisper. He leaned against the wall and studied you.

"What's gotten into you? You used to call him a douche!"

"Well, that's before he was." You walked slowly to the Fiction side of the library. Jonathan followed.

"You spoke to him for one period and that makes him a good person all of a sudden!? 40 minutes isn't enough to make that big decision." He said.

You had a book in your hands that you carefully put back in its place before turning to Jonathan.

"It took me only a minute to realize that you were a horrible person," you said poking his chest. The tears began to swell up. You could feel them wanting to fall like a waterfall; you turned around in order to prevent Jonathan from seeing them.

"(Y/n)," he said in a softer voice.
"(Y/n)," he said again, but this time reached for your shoulder which you pushed away.

You turned to face him. It was then that you noticed the dark circles around his eyes, the messy, yet still in place hair, the frown across his face.

"You were my best friend, Jonathan. You left me in a matter of seconds despite our years of building what we had," you wiped away the tears that fell down your cheeks.

"You're leaving me for him!" He replied. He didn't understand. You sighed and began to walk passed him.

"You're walking away, seriously?" Jonathan said in disbelief.

You shook your head. You turned around and caressed his cheek.

You looked him straight in the eye, "No, Jonathan Byers. You walked away first. I'm just choosing not to follow you this time."
