"Aw Dan you look so beautiful" my mom said as she straightened my tie

"Thanks" I said looking at myself in the mirror and for once I didn't hate what I was looking at

I was reluctantly going to prom after my best friend Tyler practically begged me to come

"Only if you had a pretty girl next to you" she said laughing

I had come out to her about half a year ago as gay and she was very confused as she didn't understand how I could be gay but she accepted me, well that's what she said, I think sometimes she just wants me to change to like girls

"Shame you didn't have someone to do with, you could show off your ballroom dancing"

Yes, ballroom dancing

I started dancing a couple years back as my crush for ages came out and told everyone he had started ballroom dancing

So I decided to began ballroom dancing but at a different club

I've done it for years and so has he

We've competed many times before and we were pretty much the same I'm ability and we've both beaten each other lots but he's never really recognised me as the Dan from school

I just had an overwhelming crush on him and for over three years

I never told anyone about me dancing or my crush on Phil apart from Tyler who supported me and quite often teased me aswell but I couldn't ask for a better friend

"Dan!" My mum shouted snapping me out of my daydream

"C'mon lets go!" She said as I sat in the front seat of the car the feeling of nervousness and butterflies in my stomach

"Right I'll see in, what is it? Like four hours? Have a good time sweetie" she said as I got up and waved goodbye

It was at the local social club and everyone looked excited and happy as I looked for Tyler as suddenly I saw his light blue hair run towards me"

"Dan!" He said standing next to me smiling

"Ugh why did you make me come here" I said as couples went in holding hands and smiling while I felt like such a misfit

"It's gonna be fun!" He said dragging me over to the front of the club as a motorbike drew up and I saw Phil riding it and his (in my opinion) very disgusting and ugly girlfriend Erica and she was on the motorbike aswell, Phil took her hand and lead her inside while all the time I couldn't take my eyes off them

Erica looked like a tarty little bitch and Phil looked so elegant and was wearing what I recognised to be his lasted dancing suit for the most recent competition which he won with me in second place
