"Well, would you look at that," A soothing voice entered my brain as my eyes reopened themselves to the colorful, crystal clear environment, "the white-clawed carnivore is awake!"
I groaned as I lifted my neck and head from the surface of the earth. I still felt dead all around my body, and a sense of blood still lingered on my petrified nostrils. Rubbing my head from the ringing noise, I stumbled to my wobbly feet, unsteady and off balance. The Deinonychus nearest to me rushed forwards, catching me quickly before I hit the ground.
"Woah, still unsteady there Whiteclaw." The carnivore clicked. Walking seemed like an obstacle to me, one that I couldn't surpass. It felt difficult to even move the lower portion of my body normally.
"Thanks.....Razor," I coughed as he lowered me back down upon my pubis, and my tail swirled around like candy around my body. I rested my claws on my head, feeling the throbbing ringing sensation that rigged my brain. But there was another problem too, and that sucked the life out of my left eye. When I tried winking to sear off the strange burning sensation that locked upon both eyes, darkness sucked the life out of my left eye. Was it bruised up? Closed? I couldn't tell, but I knew it related to what happened to me before. As I looked around, I could tell that we were in a brightly lit cavern from the dying sun in the distance, and the pack, my pack was surrounding me, all five Deinonychus together, munching on the carcass of a dead Tenontosaurus. My mouth salivated as the scent of dead meat wafted into my snout, but I felt hesitant upon the sight of blood upon the meat, for it reminded me of what had happened to me earlier.
It seemed like a nightmare almost.
"I can't believe that you actually survived," Another Deinonychus, Amberclaw, clicked in, grinning, "Thank the stars for this."
"Yeah," I agreed, unknowing to what he was regarding, "I just feel a bit....woozy."
"You took a hit in our takedown," Brownclaw, my brother looked worried, "You're lucky we saved your tail before that-," He pointed to the carcass, "Murdered you." I still felt uneasy. A part of my past was still missing. I had no clue as to what happened to me. But I had to follow up with some other questions before I went on.
"H-how long was I out for?" I asked. Blackclaw's eyes remained unmoving with no emotions.
"7 days at most. Don't know what you saw when you were alseep, but it was a while since you were awake," His throat rumbled.
I sighed, gripping my claws tighter. A week passed out. That's like death itself took me, then regurgitated me because of luck.
That's not what I want to stand for.
"You should eat," suggested Razorclaw, "Keep your strength up. You haven't tasted fresh meat since you got injured seven days ago." I looked at the meat but then felt utterly sick to my stomach. But why? I'm a meat eater, this is what I eat! But today, I felt as if this fresh, lovely plate of flesh looked like a diseased mammal or a rotten tree branch.
"Maybe later," I shivered, nudging it back by my snout, "I'm not really that hungry right now," My eye sank upon the bubbling blood on the carcass, and swallowed hard.
"You're always hungry though," Brownclaw, my other brother eyed me.
"Leave Whiteclaw alone," A female Deinonychus, Sky giggled, fiddling with a stick in the ground, "How would you males feel if you were knocked out and almost died?" The cavern went silent, and seconds later, Sky returned to her fiddling, "I'm just saying...don't have to overdo everything to him." I looked down while they chattered, seeking for something noticeable about my own scaled body. Brownclaw swallowed hard as he peeled away from the conversation, eyeing me.
