Chapter 55: No Regret

Elise's POV

I'm such an idiot to think it was her. Am I hallucinating? Sigurado akong siya ang nakita ko kanina. Alam kong may nagbago sa kanya but how can I even forget her eyes, her nose, her lips, and her beautiful face.

I rushed out of the mall and headed straight in my car at the parking lot. I'm such a mess. Holy crap! I almost forgot about Kate!

All this time I was being haunted by the ghost of my past.

I was about to dial Kate's number nang mag ring ang cellphone ko.

"Hello El.." I can hear Kate's panting in between.

"Uhm. Kate I was uh.." She must be in a hurry to cut me off.

"Yeah. Sorry El, something came up and I have to go. Let me catch up with you later okay?" Sunod-sunod at mabilis na sabi nito. Buti na lang.

"Sure, it's okay. I have to go too." I answered and after a little bit of talking, I hang up.

Its just half of my day but I feel like drained or something. Dati makausap ko lang siya tanggal na lahat ng pagod at stress na nararamdaman ko.

Nag drive na ako pabalik sa KRC building. I have so much work to do instead of thinking about her.

I decided to take other roads for a shortcut. In my way back to the building, nadaanan ko ang rain's coffee shop na madalas namin noon puntahan. Hindi ko pa din nalilimutan ang paborito niyang Iced macchiato frappé with lots of sugar. Madalas ko pa siyang pagalitan dahil sa dami ng asukal na nilalagay niya.

Dammit! I'm still thinking about her. Like what? I can relate everything about her. Tulad ng babaeng naglalakad sa pathway na may hawak na aso. She really likes pet, a dog in particular. Yung babaeng tumatawid sa crossing na halos puro violet ang kulay ng mga gamit, her favorite color is violet too. That man who's holding a teddy bear, Claire loves teddy bear too. Ngayon naman sinira ko ang sarili kong rule na hinding-hindi na babanggitin pa ang pangalan niya.

I called Simon and told him to stop searching for that stupid Pete. Ilang taon na ang dumaan at walang kahit anong bakas ng lalaking yun sa kung saan. He must really be good at hiding that even the most skillful detective can't find him.

Back at my work, I was at my desk all day for some paperwork, pirma dito pirma doon. I feel hopeless, sobrang dami ko pang gagawin. Tomorrow and the next after, I need to go for some surprise inspection sa mga factories. I sighed in disbelief.

I don't know but I feel like talking to someone today, this is so unlike me. Inikot ko ang inuupuan kong swivel chair paharap sa malaking salamin na bintana at kinuha ang cellphone ko. I was hoping na sana hindi pa din sila nagpapalit ng cell number. I dialled Chloe's number, so many attempts pero hindi talaga niya sinasagot ang tawag ko. I tried calling Eunice too, this is so unlike her too, hindi din niya sinasagot ang tawag ko. I even tried calling Claire's parents and my parents, even Simon basta't may makausap lang ako pero wala, walang sumasagot kahit isa. I don't want to call my parents though, I still hated them for forcing me to wed.

Wala bang may gustong kumausap sa akin ngayon? Why is everyone so busy today. I threw off my phone at my desk without even thinking twice. It felt like I wanted to cry out loud but obviously, I couldn't.
