Truth

Walking up to my parent's house felt like I was a cow walking to the slaughter house. This was not going to go well.

Demi had to push me along the path to the front door.

"You can do this. I'll be right here. They didn't leave me when I was going through my issues and they won't leave you once they know the truth."

"Promise?" I gulped.

"Promise. Got your key?"

I nodded and walked through the door.

"Goodmorning girls!" Eddie hugged each of us. "The twins are still sleeping."

"Goodmorning daddy." I hugged him back. I was already shaking.

"Why don't we go sit at the table? Dianna made breakfast and we can talk."

I walked to the table. Although I felt more like I floated.

"Goodmorning sweetie." Dianna kissed my head. "Eggs?"

I looked at Demi who answered for me. "Yes."

We sat down at the table and said a prayer. I'm going to need all the prayers I can get.

Afterwards we picked up our forks and started eating. It was awkwardly quiet.

Nobody wanted to bring up what I needed to share. Finally Demi spoke.

"So Cece." She nodded.

Now? Oh.

"Um. I have something to tell you guys."

"Of course sweetie."

I closed my eyes.

"I-I. Tyler's brother... He... Touched me and... he..."

My parents eyes were welling with tears. Demi nodded at me.

"Demi. I can't finish." I cried.

"She was raped."

My parents crumbled. Demi was crying. I was crying.

"I'm not done." I cried. "Please." I begged. "Don't leave me."

"We would never leave you."

"Tyler's brother told me that he was going to get me out of school. So I went into his room and it happened.. Afterwards he gave me a doctors note excusing me."

"Why would you not want to go to school?" My mom cried.

"It... it was scary."

"Sweetie...."

"I'm sorry."

"I need a minute." Dianna stepped out of the room. Demi followed her.

I was left alone with Eddie.

"Cece. Let's be calm. Can you tell me the full story with all of the details."

"O-ok."

And so I told him. I told him about the anxiety I felt daily at school and how I complained to Tyler about it. How the next thing I knew I had fallen into a trap. Tyler's brother raped me and then stole a doctors note claiming I was in a coma. I ditched school everyday to drink and smoke. And he listened. He listened and he cried.

But before I knew it he got up. He got up and hugged me and then left to talk to Dianna.

My poisonous mind told me to go to the bathroom then. The eggs were much too fattening.

"DEMI!" I cried. I held my head between my legs.

"Cece what's wrong?"

"I can't purge Demi. Please help me."

"Let's go get the girls up." She pulled me up and held my hand.

"Why don't you go in first? McKenna would love to see you."

I smiled and headed in.

McKenna's sweet face was sound asleep. I walked next to her bed and put my hand on her cheek.

"Goodmorning Kenna." I whispered.

Her eyes opened and then widened when she saw me.

"Goodmorning bestie!" She clung to my neck. "Are you feeling better?"

"I'm feeling great bestie."

"Good. Mommy said she has a surprise for us today."

"Really? That'll be fun."

McKenna smiled back at me before leaning in and kissing my nose.

McKenzie shot up from her bed.

"GOODMORNING! What am I missing?" She leapt out of bed onto my back.

"Goodmorning Kenzie!"

Maybe things were getting better.
