45. The Unprofessional Sponsor?

Morning

Nandu gets ready and goes to the kitchen for drinking water where she found Nyonika who was making coffee.

Nyo(smiling widely): Good morning beta

Nandu(smiled softly): Morning aunty.

Nyo: coffee?

Nandu: sure. Aap coffee bahut achi coffee banate ho.

Nyo(winked): Thank you. Waise kahi ja rahi ho?

Nandu(looking down): I want to go home once.

Nyo(cupping her cheek): Bataya Manik ne mujhe. Nandu, you are a strong girl. You have taken care of yourself most of your life. But it's ok to break down sometimes, to be imperfect. Just remember, there are people who love you. I know no one can replace your parents' place in your life but you can always come to me or anyone of us whenever you miss me.

Feeling emotional, she hugged Nyo tight making Nyo caress her hair. Their moment was disturbed by Manik.

Manik(cheekily): Can I have a hug too?

Breaking the hug they chuckle at him.

Nyo(teased): No. For now, adjust with this coffee.

Manik(cribs): Mom.

Nyo: Acha, tum dono nikal rahe ho abhi? What about breakfast?

Manik: Mom, mujhe bhook nahi lag raha. But Nandu ko khila do.

Nandu: nahi. Aunty, mujhe bhi bhook nahi lagi.

Manik(smirks): Mom, usne raat mein dinner bhi nahi kiya. Meanwhile, I have to make a call.

Nandu glared him but Nyo forcefully makes her eat.

After having breakfast Manik came towards them.

Manik: chale?

Nandu nods. They were about to leave when Cabir called them.

Cabir: Manik kahi ja raha hai?

Manik(casually): Haan. Nandu ke ghar. She has some work. Kyun? Kuch kaam tha?

Cabir: There was a reply to our music video. They are new and are interested to give us a chance. I gave them this address. They said they can be here any moment.

Manik(thinking about Nandu): But..

Nandu(softly): Manik, tum ruko. Main chali jayungi.

Manik(worriedly): Arey, how can you go alone?

Nandu(rolling her eyes): Main jungle nahi ja rahi. I know the way to my home.

Manik: Sorry Nandu, mera vo matlab nahi tha. Acha listen, go with the driver. Aur jaldi aa jana. Tumhara bhai shayad directly yehi aayega.

Nandu nods and leaves with the driver. Manik inquiries about the company and finds out that they are pretty new in the business.

After an hour.

Fab5 along with Raj, Nyonika, and Navya was sitting in the living room. Manik was pacing to and fro in frustration.

Manik(frustrated): Kisko ok kiya tune, Cabir? How unprofessional. Ek ghante se wait kar rahe hai. Is this how we are going to work? Just call him and cancel this meeting. We will talk to some others.

Cabir(seriously): Tera volcano kahi iss wajah se toh nahi bhadak raha ki tu Nandu ke saath jaane ka mauka kho diya?

Manik(scowled): I will dig your grave right here.

Nyo(calmly): Manik, shaant ho ja. He did inform about the problem, right? He had to do some changes in the contract.

Manik(in a dismissing tone): Those were excuses.

Cabir(sarcastically): Haan tera bhai jo lagta hai. Excuses dega tujhe. Manik, be serious. Nandu aa jayegi.

Manik(frowning): It's not about Nandu.

Cabir(rolling his eyes): Everyone can see that.

Manik(angrily): I want to kill someone.

They were interrupted by a shout.

Abhi(shouts): Nanduuu. Nanduuuu kahan ho. Dekho kaun aayaaa hai. Tumhara favorite person is here. Jaldi bhaag kar aao Babydolllllll.

Everyone was giving him an 'are you serious' look.

Abhi(pouted): Why are you all giving me those looks? I missed my sister.

Manik(sarcastically): Is it? Then go dance. Your sister isn't here.

Abhi(dramatically): Kahan gayi meri behen. Ek hazaaron mein meri behna. Tere hawale saup kar gaya tha meri jaan ko. Kya kiya tune use. Kahan chod aaya? Did you kidnap her?

Manik(glared): Itni ghatiyan acting karta hai. Low TRPs wale tv shows bhi nahi lenge tujhe.

Abhi(chuckling): Thanks for the compliment. Waise tera mood Mumbai ke Shaam ki samandar ki tarah expect kiya tha? Yeh Tsunami sa kyun hai?

Cabir(teased): Kyunki iss samandar ke pani mein jo namak hai, vo chali gayi. Aur yeh yahan evaporate ho raha hai.

Abhi(gaping Manik): Matlab sach mein us namak ne, I mean meri behen ne ise chod diya? Nandu ditched you?

Cabir(faked sadness): Toh tujhse aur shaadi kaun karega?

Abhi: Tu zindagi bhar kunwara hi rahega kya?

Cabir(in a hurt tone): Matlab teri shaadi mein hum khana nahi kha sakta kyunki..

Abhi(seriously): Teri shaadi hi nahi hogi.

They both burst out laughing making Manik glare him.

Manik(gritting his teeth): Mujhe ek nahi, do ka murder karna hai.

Abhi(composing himself): Bhai, on a serious note, where is Nandu?

Manik(helplessly): She went home. Ek ghante pehle gayi thi. Ab tak na koi message na koi call. And this investor isn't coming yet. I hope she is fine.

Abhi(explained softly): Ok Manik. Relax Ok. I am calling her now. Tu ja aur baith. Fine?

Manik nods and sits on a sofa. Mukti gives him a glass of water.

Everyone stays silent and wait for the volcano to calm down.

Call

Abhi(excited): Heyy babydoll. Kahan chali gayi tu? Mujhe laga tu mujhe slow motion mein bhaag kar hug karegi. Aur bolegi "bhai I missed you". Lekin tu yahan se missing hai. Babydoll, you there.

Nandu(chuckling): Abhimanyu, I am on my way to wherever you are now. Stop being so dramatic. I am not coming running to you in slow motion and hug you.

Abhi(concerned): You always do this to me. Waise babydoll, tu theek hai? Manik is worried about you. Tu ghar kyun chali gayi?

Nandu(softly): Bhai, I was missing mom. Maybe riyaz nahi kiya kal pura isiliye.

Abhi: are you fine now?

Nandu(smiled): How can I not? Acha I will be there in some 15 minutes.

Abhi(sadly): Jaldi aa. I am already missing you plus this extra fifteen minutes.

Nandu chuckles.

Call ends.

As soon as he hangs up the call, Manik stands and walks up to him.

Manik(worried): Is she fine?

Abhi(explained softly): Haan she is absolutely fine. She was missing her mom. Now she is fine.

Manik just 'hmm'ed when the butler came and informed them of the arrival of their sponsor. He asked him to send him in. Manik lost all his patience and cool seeing the person that came in, their unprofessional sponsor with a smirk on his face.
