56. Meeting Family

Evening, Malhotra Mansion

Mukti got all ready in a sari and was practicing how to walk with the help of Navya and Alya. Cabir was trying hard not to burst out laughing which might earn him a punch by Mukti. Dhruv was busy giving sympathetic looks to Mukti and earning glares from Alya. Abhimanyu entered the room and was surprised with the scene in front of him.

Abhi(amused): What's going on here?

Cabir(seriously): Yeh apne sasural walo ko impress karne ladki banne ka try kar rahi hai. But I think this mission is gonna fail very badly.

Dhruv(teased): Main toh kehta hun, sari pehne se acha hai, Mukti shadi hi mat kar.

Mukti(frustrated): Why this saree has to be this complicated? Where the hell is this idiot Manik. He said I am a piece of his heart. Phir mujhe kyun in dono gadho ke beech chod kar chala gaya.

Seeing her frustrated Abhimanyu goes towards her. Cupping her cheek,

Abhi(chuckled): Maine ghar walo se milne bola tha. Ye fancy dress ke liye nahi.

Mukti(innocently): but ghar wale saree pehni hui ladki ko hi pasand karte hai na.

Abhi(frowned): Who told you?

Mukti points towards Cabir making Abhimanyu glare him.

Cabir(ignoring them): Dhruv, dekh mere mobile mein kitne ache specifications hai.

Dhruv(playing along): Really, dikha na.

Abhi(threatened): I will inform Manik and he will break that phone of yours if he gets to know about this prank you played on Mukti.

Cabir(surrendering): Bhai, hulk ko nahi please. Mukti, hum bass mazak kar rahe the. Tujhe jo pehna hai pehen le. Swimsuit nahi please, Abhimanyu ko of course problem nahi hoga but Aunty darr jayengi.

Saying this Cabir runs off from there to save his life.

Abhi(cupping her cheek affectionately): Mukti, wear whatever you are comfortable with. I want them to meet my Mukti, the girl I fell in love with. Not the Mukti who will pretend as some random girl.

Mukti hugged him tight while the other two girls squealed in excitement. Mukti gets ready in 10 minutes, this time in simple jeans and top. They both leave for his house.

In the car

Mukti(nervously): Abhimanyu, what if they reject me?

Abhi(concentrating on the road): Not possible. Mom ko tum already pasand aa gayi ho. Remember that day breakfast?

Mukti(frowned): That's different. Then she just knows me as your friend. Ab alag hai na.

Abhi(assured): Stop panicking, Mukti. Agar Mom nahi maani toh Babydoll will convince her. Nandu ko bhi maine wahi bulaya hai. And trust me, she does something and Mom kya sab maan jayenge.

Mukti(sighed in relief): Chalo, at least I have Nandu for my support.

Abhi chuckles looking at her. The rest of the drive was silent with Abhimanyu driving and Mukti thinking about her parents.

Abhi's home

Abhi knocks the door with Mukti on his side when the door opens with a scream.

"Surprise"

Mutki looks at the person and finds Nandini and Manik there. Mukti gapes at them, Manik particularly.

Mukti(raising an eyebrow): Tu yaha kya kar raha hai?

Manik(smirks): How can I leave a piece of my heart alone when she meets her to be in-laws, the first time?

Mukti smiled widely and hugged him tightly.

Mukti(happily): Thank you for coming. I was hell nervous and missed you.

Manik caresses her hair. Seeing them, Abhi poked Nandu's hand.

Abhi(grinned): Babydoll, mujhe bhi hug de na.

Nandu(rolling his eyes): Chachi jhadu lekar wait kar rahi hai tumhara. Andar jao, she will hug you.

Mukti and Manik chuckle at them.

Abhi(scared): Ab maine kya kar diya?

Nandu(coolly): How would I know?

Abhi(blabbered): Mukti, let me talk to her. Tum Manik ke saath andar aa jao. Ek baat yaad rakhna, yeh shaadi tab hi hogi agar main zinda bacha toh. Bye.

He runs to meet his Mom making the others chuckle.

Nandu(assured): Mukti, stop being nervous. They already love you. And they are the coolest parents anyone could get.

Mukti nods. Manik mouths a 'thank you' to Nandu to which she gives a small smile.

Manik(excitedly): Andar chalo. She made a gajar ka halwa and I can't wait to taste it.

Mukti(staring him in disbelief): Manik, tu mujhe support karne aaya hai ya khane?

Manik(stuttered being scared of her): Support...hi...karne...aaya...tha but abhi gajar ke halwa ki khushbu bahut aa rahi hai.

He runs from there making the girls nod their head in disbelief. Going inside the trio find Shanno glaring Abhi.

Nandu(chuckled): Chachi, ab kya kiya Abhi ne?

Abhi(innocently): Exactly Nandu. Maine kuch bhi nahi. Aur dekh Mom mujhe kaise ghoor rahi hai.

Chachi(warned): Kisi din woh phone jalani hai mujhe. Nandu, tu hi bata yeh koi phone mein batane wali baat hai kya ki use koi ladki pasand aa gayi aur hume milna hai?

Nandu nods in a no.

Chachi(rants): Din bhar pata nahi kya karta hai ki ise sari baatein phone par hi karni hoti hai. "Mom main meeting ke liye ja raha hun". "Nandu ke yahan night out kar rahe hai". "Mom aapse milne ladki le aa raha hun". Lekar bhi kyun aaya, shadi karke bata deta phone par.

Abhi(whispered): Mom mom, Mukti.

He pointed towards Mukti through his eyes.

Chachi(smiled): Arey Mukti, tu kab aayi. Aur udhar kya khadi hai? Manik beta, jao tum dono baitho. Main tumhare liye gajar ka halwa le aa rahi hun. Tab tak Murthy ji bhi aa jayenge.

Nandu(cutely): Aur mujhe?

Chachi(lovingly): Arey tujhe diye bina kisi aur ko thodi dungi? Tu bhi ja baith unke saath.

Abhi(cheekily): Aur mujhe?

Chachi(sarcastically): Tujhe kyun nahi dungi? Tu toh mera beta hai na?

Abhi(smiled shyly): Thank you, mom.

Chachi(yelled): Ghar se bahar nikal. Gajar ka halwa bhi phone hi par kha lena.

She leaves from there making everyone burst out laughing at Abhimanyu. After a while, Chacha too joins them and all have their Gajar ka halwa pulling each other's legs.

Chacha(seriously): Abhi, tumhari girlfriend aane wali thi na?

Abhimanyu, Nandu, Manik look at each other while Mukti looks down.

Chachi(frowned): Arey yeh ek dusre ki shakal kya dekh rahe ho. Batao jaldi.

Abhi(announced): Mom, Dad, it's Mukti. I am in love with Mukti.

All the four were hell nervous about their reaction.
