Waking up I groggily walked to my dresser. I pulled it open and took my uniform. I quickly dressed myself in uniform. It still had the Survey Corp symbol on the back and right breast pocket. That symbol consisted on many fragments of royal blue string stitches to make block like wings. On the opposing side it mimicked but with white. I've heard my father talk a lot about these. He told me that it was a risky job.  Although sometimes I would over her he and mother talking about it. He would call them suicidal freaks, and money takers. He would diss them and say that they were a worthless branch of our military. Standing here; now with it on I could feel the shame welling up in the pit of my stomach. I feel as if I have disrespected my family, I have failed them, and more importantly I can't inform them about my sister and tell them, "Hey! I'm here! I'm alive and well!"  But I couldn't because I was not selected. Signing I finish dressing myself. I choose to wear a hoodie that had its strings crossing up from the mid-point of my chest. The strings peacefully hung there. I figured that wearing something a little more accustomed to the coolness of the night will help me preform better. I wished for exactly that.

Finally stepping out of my barrack I headed for the training grounds. I followed the others who were going walking alone in my own little bubble. I ignored those who were talking and complaining about late night training. To my surprise there he was...

Sadies. He was standing hands behind his back giving everyone soldier a blank stare.  He waited patiently as the recruits came in and lined up and stood in the same stance as he. When everyone arrives his loud voice rang through everyone's ears. "Listen yo you maggots! We have a night of hard work. From this night on training now will only get more intense. As a soldier of the Scouting Legion you have dedicated your hearts to humanity. Show it. Work hard with the set of instructions for tonight's activity. You will have five people in your squad and you are to work together. As a squad you are to try and kill as many Titan dummies as possible. Keep count, because his a competition. The squad with the most may have a day off and go do what ever the hell they want. Not a day off of trading a day off of cleaning. So work well! No you cannot pick groups. Look behind you. A total of five lines. Those filthy mice are in Your squad. You are to pick a squad leader and they will make any rash decisions if they're are some to make.  Alright, get your asses moving!"

Looking behind me and in front of me I froze. The people in my squad were all veterans. Those who have fought before. I had a lot to live up to. The group was a bunch of tall men and women. This had me slightly shocked. There was no way I had to do it with them!

"Hey, well if you look at that! We've got ourselves a rookie!" A man about six foot one, with brown shaggy hair clapped me in the back. Another one joined.

"Ha! Isn't she the one who got turned down? Pathetic." Looking around I was startled by these burley men.

"Oh, shut the hell up you fools." A feminine voice echoed. She bonked the two men's head and strutted towards me. "My names Erin, ignore them they're hug dumb fucks who don't know how to act." She held her hand out. Her fingers were long and slender she had amazingly soft skin. She was beautiful! I shook her hand firmly and smiled back.

"The kid knows how to shake a hand. Wow, not often you see that.  Anyways, sweetie what's your name?" I could hear a slight southern accent present in her voice. She was a very tall women but extremely nice.

"Uh, Cadet (Y/n), (L/n)!" I firmly. The group of them laugh another tall man resting his arm on the blondes shoulders.

"Ah, no need for formalities! Anyways that's Chuck, Dirk, and Carl." She points at each man. They simultaneously smile making me lose my nervousness swiftly.

"Get moving you idiots!" Sadie's called out to everyone and instantly everyone jumped and started heading for some of the stands. At first the vets were acting so priciest, Erin ordering everyone every so often to hit it. Finally after we are about an hour and a half into the training everyone was exhausted, tired and irritable.
