It's currently Defense Against The Dark Arts time and we were taught on how to produce a patronus charm.
The patronus charm is a defensive spell that produces a guardian to protect a witch or wizard from the Dementors. It's a guardian taking the form of different animals. To conjure the patronus charm, you must think of a happy memory and say the word "Expecto patronum." and give your wand a wave.
But I can't seem to produce the charm and know what my patronus is. I don't remember any happy memory to do so.
Trails of "Expecto patronum" could be heard as different kind of patronus started to linger around the room. Some got to produce immediately and some don't, and has to do it a lot of times before doing so.
"Expecto patrunom!" I turned around to the one who owned the voice. It was Baekhyun, my bestfriend, standing right behind me and he looks like he's done with his wand. How could he produce the charm when he said it wrong? Silly beagle.
"Baekhyun you're saying it wrong! It's expecto partronum." I corrected him before laughing a bit. He then laughed at his mistake and shook his head because of being silly.
"Thank you my brightest best friend!" he winked at me before he went back on trying to produce the charm. I felt my face getting hot and before it gets red, I hurriedly turned around and went back to think of a happy memory.
Now I know what happy memory I should think!
I closed my eyes and an image suddenly appeared in my mind. The image of his smile when I told him the correct way of saying the charm. I could heard his voice and his little laugh. When I felt my heart beating really fast because of happiness, I opened my eyes and gave my wand a wave before saying the charm. "Expecto patronum!"
But nothing happened.
I guess that memory isn't enough.
Since I can't think of a memory. Maybe I should just make one! That way, it could be any happier.
Once again, I closed my eyes as I started to create an image of a random place. Then I saw myself, I was leaning in with my eyes closed. Then another person leaning in from the other side. We were both wearing white and there a lot of people at the background. We both smiled before letting our lips touch against each other. It was me and my bestfriend, on our wedding day.
I smiled to myself before waving my wand and spoke of the charm.
Still, nothing happened.
"Okay all of you were able to produce the charm! Now you know what your patronus is. And since you have learned how to produce the charm, you are now be able to protect yourselves from the Dementors." our professor said as he clapped his hand in amusement. I looked down, knowing that he knew I wasn't be able to produce the charm.
"Everyone dismissed!" he said and everyone got their books and started to leave one by one. I also grabbed my books and was about to step out of the room when our professor spoke once again.
"Y/n and Baekhyun! You two stay. You are the ones who weren't able to produce the charm." I went back to my steps and so does Baekhyun who was about to leave.
"Do practice the charm while I'm away. I'll be back after a little talk with the Headmaster. Make sure when I'm back you two already had your patronus lingering around."
