I never liked the idea of SuperM before, back when I was just a fan supporting EXO from afar. It's not that I hate the members. In fact, I love them! It's the love that I have for them that's why I didn't like SuperM's set-up. It's overlapping their schedules as a member of their original group and tiring the hell out of them.
But then karma has its own way of coming back to you. Years after debuting in a group and right after my solo debut, I was told to be a part of a group similar to SuperM but its female counterpart.
As a part of promoting our new formed group, we were tasked to do a reaction video of SuperM's music videos from before. I didn't know how to react since I'm not a fan, so I intently stared on the screen as the video played while my members danced along slightly and gave impressed reactions.
"Eonnie, you don't look impressed. Didn't you like Baekhyun sunbaenim?" I could just blink my eyes as I looked at the youngest member when she whispered her question to me.
I do like him... But I didn't like seeing him as a member of another group. As selfish as it may sound, I only want him with EXO, I want him to only introduce himself as EXO's Baekhyun along with Kai, I want to see those opportunities SuperM get to experience go to EXO. Those times SuperM were promoting, EXO was nowhere to be seen as three of its members already went inside the military so it was hard to see them as group, and that caused for me to miss EXO so much.
"You look like you've never seen the music video before." another member carried on.
"I..." I bit on my lips, contemplating to say the truth. "I was never a fan of this set-up and only watched their videos once in my entire life."
"Heol!"
"Really?"
"Yeah." I bashfully admitted, a hand reaching up to the back of my neck to scratch it out of shyness. "I never even heard the sidetracks from their albums and I never watched their reality or variety shows."
I trust my members and told them how I really feel about the group, shamelessly as if no one is listening. I'm sure they aren't going to tell Sooman about this so I'm safe. He really favors SuperM than this group I lead and when someone speak ill of SuperM, he's going to scold that person a lot. I was so sure I would be fine...
But then I realized... We're on live.
I. AM. DEAD.
Later that evening, I was called by Sooman to his office. I tried to make some excuses that I couldn't meet him but I was just actually scared that he'll scold me because of what I blurted out about SuperM in our live. Unfortunately, he didn't buy any of my excuses and I have no choice but to show up with my head hanging low in shame.
I stood in front of his desk, my hands anxiously playing with themselves behind my back.
"So you've never been a fan of SuperM?"
"I'm sorry, Sir."
"You know how much I see that supergroup as a success, right?" I nodded quietly as a respond to that question. "And you really have to say things while thousands of fans are watching you? What are they going to say now that you're in a set-up similar to what you never liked?"
