Jin happily skipped around the house, "Hyunnie!" He called.

"Up here!" She replied, so he ran upstairs to tell her everything. "Did you have fun?" He nodded excitedly, "Tell me all about it."

Jin did as told, telling her about his trip to the library. While they were there, Namjoon asked Jin to find a couple books he wanted to read so Namjoon could read him a bedtime story over the phone. Jin had never felt so attended to, it just made him like Namjoon all the more.

"He sounds very," Hyunsa hesitated for a split second, "Nice."

What happened to Mina was devastating to everyone in this Kim household and gang. She was everyone's metaphorical mother. Hyunsa would be lying if she said she didn't miss her. But she also wasn't too upset with her disappearance. Not because she didn't care, but because for some reason, she couldn't help but feel it would lead to something bigger and better. Mina always told her to look on the bright side, so here she was, doing as instructed. Mina said everything happened for a reason, and as hurt as Hyunsa was by her being gone, she was determined to keep Mina's spirit alive. If that meant believing everything was by God's will, that good people like Mina go to heaven and spend eternity happily, then that's what it meant.

As they talked, they began to become distracted by the footsteps outside followed by the door opening. As Jin peeked over the railing of the second floor, he grinned as he saw a glimpse of who it was. "Papa!" He cheered, running downstairs to receive him. His father opened his arms wide, of course, Jin jumped into them.

"Hello, son." He smiled warmly at Jin.

"Why're you back so early?" Jin asked.

"There's some business I can't be around for if I want to stay alive long enough to see who wins the next election. So they sent me back home for a half hour." Jin nodded. He was a little upset that it wasn't to spend time with Jin.

Jin was always upset by his father, so why did he still want his attention? He couldn't help but get excited to see him, but at the same time, he didn't like him all that much either. These thoughts always disturbed him, so he tried not to give them the time of day.

"Run along now," his father smiled, "I'm going to go do some work in my office." He said as he pat Jin's back and went up the stairs into his office.

Hyunsa sensed the thoughts Jin was struggling to put together in his head. "Do you want to keep dusting with me?" She asked him. Even though all of her cleaning had been done for the day, she knew it made Jin feel extra special to think he is doing something, without too much effort.

He nodded, and she went into her supply closet to pull out two dusters. Jin took the pink one and Hyunsa the red, getting to work on the shelves on the wall as she took care of the decorative table pushed against the wall.

But that was Hyunsa's mistake.

That is, to let Jin hurt his own feelings.

He eagerly dusted the shelves, and when he was done, Hyunsa sent him back to dust the pictures on the walls with her. Jin blabbed and blabbed happily to Hyunsa, which she of course enjoyed. But the one minute they worked silently, was enough for Jin to ask a question he never thought to ask until now.

"Hyunsa?"

"Yes, dear?"

"What, what happened to my mom?"

Hyunsa froze, unable to process much. "You, y-you know what, Jinnie?" She gulped, "I think we're done with cleaning. How ab-, how about we go, go watch some cartoons?"

Jin was confused and a little frustrated that she blatantly steered away from his question. "But I don't wanna watch cartoons. Where'd my mom go?"

As much as Hyunsa wanted to answer his question, she felt that she shouldn't answer it. But maybe, she could send him in the direction of the answer he was looking for, without overstepping her own bounds. Hyunsa walked over to him, holding his cheek in her soft palm. "Oh, Jinnie, I'd hate to leave you without answers, but I don't think I should answer. At least, not until you ask your father for an answer."

"Why is this so serious, isn't it simple to explain where someone goes?"

"Oh, honey," she blinked tears away, but not fast enough for Jin to go without noticing them. "I'm afraid it's not that easy." She sighed as she stared at the floor, "Your father is leaving back to work soon. Go ask him now, he's in his office. It shouldn't take long for him to explain, he can tell you what you should hear and then he should be on his way. I'll be right outside your bedroom, waiting so we can cuddle and watch a movie. How does that sound?"

Jin was a little scared, but mostly confused. "Okay," he answered hesitantly, and walked towards his father's office.

His hand turned the knob and pushed him to take a deep breath. Suddenly, Hyunsa making such a big deal of something scared him. He rarely saw her cry over something that wasn't a movie or puppies, or anything else people cry about. So her crying over something he didn't know about, or even understand, was freaking him out.

He pushed the door and walked in. "Papa?"

His father swiveled around in his desk chair, turning to face him. "Yes, son?"

"I-I have a, a question." He stuttered, nervous, and fearful of what he'd hear. No one talked ill of his mother, but they also didn't talk of her. Did she abandon them? Did she chose to divorce his father?

"And I probably have an answer," his father joked, unknowingly making it extremely awkward, as Jin couldn't do more but nervously chuckle in response. "Ask away, Jin."

"What happened to my mom?"
