I was in my room, imaging what life would be like when I got back home, when Jacob walked in.

I looked up at him from my spot on the bed and glared. "Haven't you ever heard of knocking?"

He glared back at me. "Haven't you ever heard of this is my house and I do what I want?"

I crossed my arms. "Haven't you ever heard of I didn't want to be here in the first place?"

He mirrored my motions, crossing his arms too. "Haven't you ever heard of you saying the same complaints over and over gets old?"

I rolled my eyes, "Haven't you ever heard of I actually have a reason to complain?"

"Haven't you ever heard-"

"Alright, we're done," I interrupted, tired of the antics. "What is it you came in here for?"

He looked at me, then looked away.

Finally he mumbled, "Ijuswantosailmisou."

I raised my eyebrows. "What?"

His cheeks turned red and he turned around and began to walk out, "That's all I wanted to say!"

"Oh no," I said, hopping off the bed, walking over. As he stepped out the door, I grabbed the back of his shirt and pulled him back into the room. "You're not getting away that easily."

He stumbled in, and turned around to face me, a look of surprise on his face, as I looked straight at him, our bodies extremely close.

"Now, what were you going to say?" I demanded.

He looked at me, then looked down at the very small amount of space between us.

I rolled my eyes, and took a step back.

He gulped nervously, avoiding my gaze, and said, "I-um-wanted to say something to you before you left- so- you- ah- did- maybe-or-and-"

"Are you serious right now?" I complained impatiently. "Get to the point please."

Jacob cleared my throat, and finally met my eyes.

"I wanted to say that I'll miss you," He said clearly, watching my reaction carefully.

I merely raised an eyebrow. "I'll see you the next day. We have a date remember?"

A large smile spread across his face. "I like hearing you say that. If you want to repeat it, I won't stop you."

I fought the urge to roll my eyes again. "I'm not going to repeat it. But I'm just saying, there's no need for you to miss me when you'll literally see me in the next twenty four hours."

"That's twenty seven too long!" He whined.

"Your math is very interesting," I replied. "Please explain where you got that number from."

"This isn't a joke, Aileen!" He yelled, frustrated.

I noted the fact that his fists were clenched and his voice was raised at me, but not in his usual annoying way.

I searched his eyes, the green outside blending with the brown surrounding his pupil. Anger was swirling in there, frustration for sure, but also something that looked suspiciously like fear.

I breathed. Which is probably good, breathing is pretty important.

"You're really upset about this, aren't you," I said in a quieter voice than normal.

He looked away from me and nodded once.

I do not understand him at all. But I had to admit, it was very interesting trying to figure this complex guy out.

"Why?" I pressed.

He sighed, leaned back against the wall next to the door. "I don't want to let you go. I don't want you to leave."

"Letting go and leaving aren't the same thing," I told him a gentle-ish voice. "Besides, sometimes you have to let things go to find out whether or not it's meant to be."

He didn't seem to like my response, as he began to sniffle.

"Are you... crying?"

"Are you crying?"

"Jacob, that was like, the worst comeback ever."

He sighed again, and looked up at the ceiling. "I know. I'm just upset."

"Don't be," I told him, putting a hand on his shoulder. His eyes bulged, and he stared down at the place where my hand was touching him.

"We will see each other again at least once. And hey- who knows? Maybe it will work out and we will meet a second time? The point is, it's not over yet. You've just got to make the most of it," I told him sincerely. "And I know you're scared, but the only way to see if something really works is to let it go."

He continued staring at my hand, not reacting at all to my words.

I narrowed my eyes. "Did you hear anything I just said?"

He blinked, and looked back up at me. "What?"

I threw my hands up in the air. "Unbelievable."

I turned away from him and headed back to my bed as he scrambled after me.

"Wait, I'm just joking! I heard what you said! Yeah, I should follow my dreams and stuff, good advice!" He tried, chasing after as I sat down on the mattress. "I can do anything if I believe!"

"Good attempt, but that's not at all what I said," I told him. Then I thought. "Actually, that attempt sucked. Do I really seem like the kind of person to tell you to follow yours dreams and believe?"

"I'm sorry, but it's not my fault! You distracted me," He protested, sitting on the bed next to me and angling his body towards mine.

I looked at him, and instead of giving a response, I fell back onto the bed, facing the ceiling and let out a long breath.

Jacob watched me, and then did the exact same thing, giving a "Haaaaaaa."

I said nothing for a while, and neither did he. We both just lied on the bed, looking up.

Finally, he broke the silence. "You know, it takes most couples years to move in with each other. We are way ahead of the game!"

I snorted.

Then it hit me that he just referred to us as a couple.

I decided to leave it alone through, not wanting him to get depressed again.

"We are quite the couple," I said. "Of idiots!"

He laughed, but I could tell he was just being polite. That was not one of my better jokes.

"Maybe it's for the best if it doesn't work out," I said aloud, still staring up at the gray ceiling. "We get very angry together."

"Ah," He said, "But think about how that passion will translate to sex."

"Touché," I responded.

We sat together for a while after that, just looking up and saying nothing.

At one point, Jacob fidgeted a little, and his arm bumped against mine.

Instead of moving it, however, he simply let it stay there, our skin lightly touching each other.

He never moved it, and I didn't tell him to.
