CHAPTER 16

For the first time in my life I was concerned about my appearance!! Soon, it struck me that I would be wearing the hoodie, so it was of no use of having a good appearance. So I got into my regular full sleeves top and dark blue denims. I got my hoodie and started walking towards the forest. I had more 1 hour in my hand so I decided to see Mike. As I got there, I saw Mike injured. Probably some spines or thorn from the bush must have injured it. I removed the thorn and I bandaged it's leg with my hanky. I laid down 4-5 biscuits for it while I had the other 3 biscuits. He always manages to save my day. "Be careful, Mike!", I said as I got out of the clearing. Soon, I got into my class and I could feel eyes on me but I didn't know why. I sat at my usual place when a boy neared me and lent his hand, "Hey! I am Rahul. Darshan's best friend ". "What am I supposed to do by knowing it? ", I asked rudely. He stayed quiet for a moment when I heard a familiar voice saying, "Hi". "Hello", I chipped. "You r getting so rude with him! ", Darshan judged and I looked up, "I sent him to u so that u guys could be friends and... Why are u hiding ur beautiful face? ", he continued and opened my hoodie exposing my face. "Hey! What r u doing? ", I said in annoyance as the whole class stared at me. Obviously they had never seen this face, that was covered behind the hoodie. "Really, why are u hiding ur so beautiful face? ", Rahul raised the question. "Oh! R u falling for my beauty? ", I said and he looked down in embarrassment. "Hey! Don't be so rude and harsh", Darshan said. "Listen Darshan, I don't know why are you doing this but I am saying you... I don't like friends or friendships. It was just u who was running behind me! ", I lectured him while the whole class, by now, was enjoying the scene. Darshan was about to say something when Rahul nudged him with his elbow and said in a hoarse whisper, "Hey, stop it. She doesn't want us so u don't need to create a scene" and Darshan gave him a 'really?' look. "Sorry", Rahul said and I asked, "What's that for? ". "Enough Aditi! I am holding this for a long time but not now! If someone lends a hand to u then u jerk it off and if they say sorry to make u feel better even though there is no fault of their's, u have a problem! What do u want actually?? ", Darshan snapped. "I. Want. To. Stay. Alone! ", I said through gritted teeth. "U could have said it earlier! ", he said as he took up his bag and hogged onto another seat with Rahul. I put my hoodie back as tears formed on my waterline. This was that guy who made me smile all night and this is the same guy who is making me cry now. I know fault is mine but I don't know why I did it.

It was lunch break after picking up Manvi, I came back to college. I didn't want to show up in the library. I went to the fire exit staircase and sitting on a stair, I lit up a cigarette and started smoking. After a few minutes, I heard someone opening the door. "Oh! U r here! ", I saw Darshan and he said it while he was still panting. "I was searching for u everywhere ", he continued and sat by me. I put down the cigarette and stomped it. "I am sorry", he said. "For? ", I asked. "For... U know... Doing all that drama. I should have asked you earlier if u wanted some more friends or not. ", he said. "And this also Rahul explained u? ", I asked furrowing my brows. "Hey! How did you know? ", he asked. "Can't explain.. Just my experience or guts..... ", I said shrugging my shoulders. "He gave me a 30-minute long lecture on how I should be concerned about others consent and all. He didn't even let me have my lunch properly!! ", he said. "Where is he now? ", I asked. "Probably in the ground with Ryan", he said. "Doesn't your best friend spend the lunch break with u? ", I asked. "Well, he is a die hard fan of sports and I don't like sports much... So.. ", he said and we co-existed in silence for a moment. "Did you have ur lunch? ", he asked out of the blue and I nodded in a yes. "What did you have? ", he further asked. "A cigarette.. ", I said shrugging my shoulders. I don't know why I was being honest with him. "Fuck! For real!! How will you survive the whole day? I mean the lectures? ", he questioned. "Don't worry! It's my daily routine... I will manage", I said winking at him. "But u know right... This is not good..", he continued. "I know... But sometimes circumstances make u realise that every bad was never 'not too bad'", I said wrinkling my nose. The lunch break got over and as I was standing up to leave, he called me from back and said, "Please remove the hoodie and show the world that a face like this exists!". I obeyed and opened my hoodie. I could feel eyes on me for the second time in the day. The lecturer took me for a new student as I cleared his doubts on my fucking existence for last 3 years! "This happens when u don't show ur face to the world! They think u don't exist!! ", Darshan smirked while he earned a death glare from me and kept quiet. He really made my world beautiful. Somewhere deep inside I wanted him to be with me all the time.
