"Senku!!!" Chrome ran over to you both. "I got had the most awesome idea!"
"Dude," you raised a hand, seeing the state he was in. "take a breath first."
He panted, his hands on his knees. Then he looked back up.
"We're gonna need a ton of different things to make a cellphone right? With batteries and light bulbs, we can go mining can't we?! We can go even deeper than we've ever been able to go into those caves!"
Yours and Senku's eyes widen in realization. Eventually a huge grin formed on your face, and Senku knew exactly what you were thinking.
"The back of the caves, they gotta be full of interesting stones!" Chrome continued. "But even knowing that, it just wasn't possible to search properly by torchlight. It's infuriating!"
"That's right." Senku smiled. "As long as we have batteries and electricity, we can go fishin around down there ten billion percent as efficiently."
You walked up to stand in front of Chrome.
"Let's do this man! Let's go fucking mining!" you exclaimed with stars in your eyes.
"All right!" he exclaimed. "Science excavation team, rolling out! We're gonna get our hands on a sick trove of ore and materials!"
"Wooo~!"
You both raised your fists in the air. Senku chuckled at your shared enthusiasm.
The next day, you and Chrome stood there, geared up and ready to go out for your first expedition as Chrome's science excavation team. One was determined, the other was as excited as a child on a school trip. Bet you can't guess which one was which.
"Yo Senku!" Chrome shouted. "I may haven't beat you at science yet, but when it comes to the gathering of materials, I'm hundreds of billions of times better than you!"
"Yeah probably." he smiled. "I haven't served for as long as you have."
"So what do you want?! Expedition chief Chrome and his Second (Y/n) will get it for ya!" he pointed at the two of you. "As always, there gotta be something on the cellphone-making road map that we're missing right?!"
"Yeah, whatever you need!" you smiled.
"Yeah we're missing..." Senku picked his ear. "Nothin'." he said with a carefree smile.
"Nothing?!" Chrome repeated.
"Yeah we pretty much got everything we need. Thanks to all the missions we've been busting our asses up until now."
"Oww..." you looked down.
There was a hint of sadness in your voice, and Senku noticed it.
"Kukuku, well I wouldn't mind having some mountains of copper and stuff lying around." he said. "For our next demon level project, we're gonna be wasting a lot of it. And we already used a bunch of it to make our little trumpet."
Both you and Chrome suddenly got your enthusiasm back.
"Leave it to us!" you shouted together as you walked to adventure.
"Come back soon! Before new year's day next week!"
"Aye aye Captain!" you waved.
You followed Chrome across the forest, trusting his knowledge and experience, into a cave. You walked until it was dark enough to use the light bulbs. The two of you let out a 'wow' when you saw the giant space going even further into the earth.
"Alright," Chrome walked forward. "let's go!"
"It's incredible how nature made that place on its own though." you followed him, admiring the scenery.
"We're not here for sightseeing (Y/n)! We're here to work!"
"Right!" you placed your hand on your forehead as a salute. "Yes Expedition Chief Chrome!"
He smiled.
You kept going further down, collecting whatever interesting looking rocks you found in your way. After a while you discover a big amount of copper attached to a wall, you took out your tools and dug through it.
"Hey, I'm wondering..." Chrome said while you two were working. "Have you done mining before?"
'He was probably too exited to realize.' you puff a chuckle.
"I mean, I haven't done it for years, but as you can see I haven't gotten rusty." you smiled. "When I first met Senku, he would say how he wanted to examine some interesting rocks. So, dumb little child than I was, I started to bring him every and any rock that I could find. I even convinced my parents to take me to the mountains so I could find a cave and start mining. And guess what?" you paused. "I actually did find a cave!" you laughed at the memory.
"Woa~! And did you find some cool stuff?!"
"Nope!" you laughed again. "Nothing like the ones he was talking about anyway. Plus with the plastic toys I had as tools, it's not like I went that far."
"Plastic...?" he mumbled.
