Summary Marina had everything. She lived in a huge house in the center of Lisbon, she had a lot of friends and overall her life was perfect. But after her father is sentenced to jail for 30 years, she's left with no money and no house. Without options, her mother is forced to move in with her sister, her only family, and Marina is forced to leave her life in the big city and get used to the life of the remote island of Outer Banks.

A 16 year old girl born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal. Her father, Duarte, is Portuguese and her mother, Phoebe, is American. They met because her mother went to college in Lisbon. Marina is going into senior year of highschool and has never met her mother's side of the family.
