The second wizarding war terrified you. You were only an infant during the first war, but now you were blossoming into an adult and needed to fight for the people that you loved and cared for. You didn't know what would come through this war, you didn't fear for the loss of your own life, but losing your family, friends and boyfriend. With so much fear, you hoped that if there were less people who you loved and cared for, then this war wouldn't hurt you nearly as badly.

You loved George dearly and you never wanted to break up with him but you didn't want to get hurt and you certainly didn't want him hurt if you ended up a victim of the war. Tearfully you told him that you wanted to break up and it confused him more than you expected.

"Please George, I cannot lose you to the war. It is dangerous to have people we love, and I know you would sacrifice yourself if you thought it would save me and I cannot allow that to happen. It is for the best for both of us to break up," you whispered, tearfully.

He shook his head. "I love you Y/N and even in the middle of this war, I want everyone to know that I love you. I don't want this to end, not unless you truly do."

You took a deep breath, trying to contain your tears as you let lies escape your lips for the greater good.

"I do want to breakup."

George's expression dropped although he tried his best to keep a brave face.

"Okay then," he said softly. "Look at me. Just tell me you don't ever want to see me again, and I'll walk away. I promise. But if you can't do that... I'm not going anywhere."

Your heart jumped up into your throat as you thought about what you could say. There was only so much that you could say to George, you couldn't lie forever and if you were to look him in the eyes and lie to him, you would break.

"You know I can't do that," you cried.

He offered you a gentle smile as he leaned in to press a kiss to your forehead.

"I don't want to lose you," you croaked. "I love you so much but I'm so scared."

George nodded his head. "So am I."
