"too early bro" he mumbles as he stands up in between their game of 2k. we say our goodbyes and i went home.

i let out a slight groan as i plopped myself onto the bed. normally y/n would be here to give me cuddles, but i guess shit like that doesnt last forever.

y/n and i have broken up 2 years ago. she said it was because we were growing apart, which i disagreed to. but she also said there's somebody else, and she was happy with him, he gives her time and attention, basically everything she didnt feel from me. so i did let her go and be happy for her even though it still hurts like shit.

July 5, 2021 - party
"aye jaden" josh greets as we dap each other up. noah and the others followed behind and we made small talk with josh. i turn to left and saw y/n. she still looks beautiful as ever.

"hey josh, can i talk to y/n for a sec?" i ask him and he nods with no hesitation which made me confuse. does he know?

i walk over to her as i try to fix my english in my brain and tell myself to not fuck everything up.

"hey" i mumble and y/n turns around as she blinks.
"jaden" she mumbles as she pulls me in for a kiss on a cheek.
"how are you?" she asks as i sit down,
"good, you?"
"im great. im really great" well okay. i guess there's no point of trying to get her back now.

we talked and drank for a few minutes, and somehow i was drunk.
"you know im still not over you right?" i try to say not making eye contact with her,
"hmm?"
"d'you remember when you said we were growing apart? that was bullshit. you just weren't happy with me" i say to her and turn to her with her brows furrowed.
"jaden you know that's no-"
"no i totally understand. i mean i was focused on ball all the time i complete forgot i got a fucking girlfriend waiting for me" i say, a chuckle following after. all of a sudden i just felt tears forming in the corner of my eyes,

"i actually thought about taking you back and try to make everything right, but i guess there's no point of doing that anymore" i say while my voice shakes,
"jaden" y/n mumbes as i felt her hands on my back,
"and you're engaged, invite me to the wedding aight?" i say before leaving, while tears threatened to fall out of my eyes, and failed.

"jaden you going home already?" noah shouts making josh turn to me,
"you good?" josh asks as he tilts his head,
"yeah im great. im just tired, congrats on the engagement brother" i say to him as i give him a hug,
"thanks man" he mumbles and i pull away.
"take care of her bro, you know you're lucky yourself" i say to him and his lips formed into a small grin,
"yeah i am" he says and i chuckle slightly.

"i'll catch up with y'all soon"
