"Do you remember when he stopped sleeping?" Rebekah asked. "He was so paranoid someone was plotting against him he was listening at our doors."

"Do you remember the night he almost caught me sneaking out of your room?"

"Oh my goodness, she's in there with Marcel." I told Elijah and the newlyweds.

"I musta hid in that crawl space for like 12 hours." Marcel finished, causing him and Rebekah to laugh.

Freya was the first to enter, the three of us following behind as Marcel and Rebekah sat up abruptly, Rebekah's sex hair on full display.

"Keelin just got back." Freya explained.

"Just wanted to say hi." The wolf murmured awkwardly.

"...Hi."

"Oh, you can say a lot about Nik, but you cannot deny he had a prescient eye." I told them as the six of us now sat in the parlour drinking and reminiscing about Klaus. "He was out there extoling the virtues of Van Gogh when the rest of the world had already written him off as a madman with a severed ear."

"Wait, do you remember that April fool's in Copenhagen where he compelled a circus to follow Elijah around?" Rebekah added with a laugh.

"Just the 36 most challenging hours of my life." Elijah muttered.

"Oh yes, that was everything." I remarked as Elijah sighed deeply.

"No, no no, no, the worst was when he would get drunk and became convinced that he was gonna set the world on fire with his paintings." Marcel interjected.

"And then he would actually set them on fire." Elijah and I said in unison.

"What was his phrase?" Marcel asked.

"His inspirational rampages." We all answered together.

"His drunken collection was always my favourite." Kol said as he joined us, a bottle of bourbon in his hand. "I should have known this was going to be redundant."

"Silly Kol." I said as I took the bottle from his hands. "Bourbon is never redundant."

"The prodigal brother returns." Rebekah said as she pulled him in for a hug.

"Well as much as I hate to admit it, you were right." He told her. "We should honour our brother's sacrifice. And if Nik's time is up then I didn't want to miss my chance to bitch and moan. Because he is a tremendous ass."

"That he is." Klaus said as he joined us, Grace at his side. "But he oh-so-secretly adores his youngest brother."

The two embraced fondly and I smirked at my sentimental husband. "Well don't stop on my account. If this is to be my funeral, then let's get on with it."

The family had turned Klaus' wayward funeral into a full event with a proper diner, but that just meant the main event was coming next. However, it was very obvious that one member was missing, we were just waiting on the first person to be brave enough to bring it up.

"Alright, I'll bite." Rebekah asked. "Where is my favourite nephew? I would hate for him to miss the wish burning ceremony."

Both Nik and Grace had turned sullen at the mention of Elliott, but neither seemed to know how to explain his absence.

"Elliott...Elliott chose not to be here. I hurt him." Nik murmured soberly. "My death is not something he has been able to adjust to all that well."
