~Elliott POV~

"You alright?" Elliott asked as he held out his hand to help Josh up.

"Yeah, yeah, thanks to you." Josh said appreciatively. "You kinda saved my ass back then."

"Well I'd hate for anything to happen to something as cute as that." Elliott teased before looking back to his father on the floor. "Especially at the hands of Klaus Mikaelson."

"Are you okay?" Josh queried.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Elliott replied nonchalantly.

"Because you just force-murdered your dad and your mom is missing." Josh replied.

"Nothing new in this household." Elliott answered. "My main focus was keeping you alive."

"You know, for a second there, I thought you weren't gonna come." Josh told him, causing Elliott to turn to him with determination.

"I'll always be there to save your cute little ass." Elliott said before pulling him in for a kiss, gently resting his head on Josh's forehead as he pulled away. "So you don't ever have to doubt me."

Josh went to kiss him again, but Elliott smirked and pulled away as Marcel finally arrived and turned to Josh.

"Are you okay?" Marcel asked him.

"Where the hell were you?" Elliott was shocked by the anger that fuelled Josh as he spoke to him. "You said you'd stop him."

"Marcel says a lot of things." Vincent said as he arrived and noticed Collette's dead body.

"Everybody hates Marcel, huh." Elliott remarked as he sat down and watched the altercation.

"I didn't want any of this." Marcel told his friend.

"No, what you wanted was to slide back into town and run things like you used to!" Josh snapped. "And while you out there stomping around and alienating everyone, I had your back! And now look."

Josh stalked out of the dungeon and Marcel called out to him, but Elliott knew what was going to happen. "He's not coming back, Marcel."

"Well, I have a witch to bury." Vincent told Marcel before gesturing to Klaus. "You can take care of that mess."

Vincent too departed and Elliott looked back at Marcel sympathetically. "It's been centuries, Marcel, when are you gonna learn the truth?"

"What truth?"

"That standing by the Mikaelsons is a pointless endeavour." Elliott explained. "Us Mikaelsons, don't even wanna be Mikaelsons, so why would you? Klaus does what Klaus wants, and the second you don't subscribe to that, you stop meaning anything to him."

Marcel looked back at Elliott in shock, clearly surprised by his complete denouncement of his father. "What happened between you two?"

"You can ask him that question." Elliott replied before patting Marcel on the back. "I'll get the chains."

~Grace POV~

Grace came home from school that day and turned to her mom and Aunt Hayley before immediately bursting into tears. The two hurriedly came to comfort her, pulling her into a tight hug.

"It didn't work!" Grace told them. "I tried to be nice, but they just got meaner and then when I was mean I got a detention and I—I'm not going to the dance, Mom, please don't make me, I don't wanna go!"

Fiore took her daughter and looked into her eyes with the warm gaze that could convince a priest to murder. "Sweetheart, you don't have to go to that dance if you don't want to."
