~Alaric POV~

Alaric sat on his desk, groaning as he tried to go through emails, but his head was plagued all the while by his altercation with Fiore. The door opened and Caroline walked in and frowned when she saw him there.

"What are you doing here?"

"Nice to see you too." He said gruffly.

"Sorry, I kinda thought you would be on your way to NOLA by now." Caroline replied. "Why aren't you?"

"I'm not going." He said to Caroline's disbelief.

"Are you serious right now?" She asked him.

"Um, yeah?" He replied. "Kinda have a job."

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Caroline said as she hit Alaric's shoulder. "My best friend is suffering and yet here you are! What the hell dude?"

"I have work to do here." He explained with a sigh. "Why aren't you going?"

"Because she didn't ask me to. She asked you." She answered. "I can't believe you Ric. She makes all these sacrifices for you, but when she asks for a simple thing, you can't do it. You're a wimp!"

"A wimp? Really? Are we 12 now?" He asked her.

"Look," Caroline said with a sigh. "I can't force you to do anything you don't want to, but I can recommend. Go be there for Fiore. Before she stops wanting you there at all."

~Grace POV~

Grace stood in her favourite pyjamas, a grey nightdress, and her hair tied up in a messy bun, preparing to get dressed for the next part of the plan when there was a knock on the balcony door.

"Silvus." She seized up at the voice of the one person who called her by that name. Roman. She went to the window and opened it, staring at him in shock.

"Roman." She said. "You're at my house."

"Yeah, I needed to talk to you." He explained as a million thoughts ran through her head.

"Um how do you know where I live?" She asked in confusion.

"Well you don't make it easy; I'll tell you that." He began with a chuckle. "Saltzman has parental contacts in his file cabinet, which is also where he keeps his Bourbon, so I'm intimately familiar with it."

"But this isn't my listed address." She added.

"Yeah, it's your aunt's, right? Hayley Marshall?" He continued. "I swung by your place in Mystic Falls, but there was no one there so, here I am."

"Huh." She mumbled, now even more worried about her entire life unravelling and if her mom wasn't gonna kill her before, there was now a boy in her bedroom.

"Can I come in?" He asked. She nodded, but he just chuckled and hoped she would catch on. She did not.

"You know I'm a vampire, right?"
"Mmhmm."
"So I kinda need you to say it out loud."

"Right!" Grace said with a nervous laugh. "Of course, duh! Come in!"

He stood nose-to-nose with her in front of the window and Grace was now even more concerned about her mother waltzing in.

"Cute jammies." He commented with a smirk.

"Thanks, I take pride in my PJ couture looks." Grace replied, the two of them laughing at her joke. "So, um, I'm kinda guessing you don't want help buying new PJs, so what exactly is it you need to talk to me about?"

"Look, people are saying all this stuff about Henry at school. That he died." Roman began. "That he...that he killed himself."

Grace sighed but stood up for Henry, knowing that Roman's friends' treatment of him was out of line. "Well, your friends bullied him all the time, you know that right? He went through hell."
