CHAPTER 26: THE MARRIED COUPLE

Everyone got a week off, Tom was able to recover. Fuller called Sydney and Tom in on a Sunday. He said "thanks guys for coming in on a Sunday."  Tom said "sure sounds important."  Fuller said "it is, I need to talk to you about a case, we've been asked to help with, but I'm not going to sugar coat it, this case is a tough one, and dangerous."  Tom looked at Sydney. Fuller said "there is this group of college kids, they come from rich backgrounds, parents all got money, spoiled, given everything in their life. They like the high life, the fast cars, fine dining, beautiful clothes."  Sydney said "real snobs, yeah I know the type, I grew up with them, they made my life miserable."  Sydney looked at Tom.  Tom said "what are these kids doing?"  Fuller said "young adults Hanson, they are in their 20's.  They are into designer drugs, using, but dealing. It's gotten bad. They have these this club, they only let a select group of people in, either rich like they are, or an easy target an easy mark, who they can convince to do whatever to be one of them, say if you do this for us, then you can be lucky enough to hang with us." Sydney said "So they make these kids do things like commit crimes?"  Fuller said "yeah we think so. They have these so called sex clubs, or sex parties, is what they call it."  Tom looked at Fuller. Tom said "captain."  Fuller said "let me finish Hanson.  This group has been on the radar for the downtown guys, for awhile now. Last week, a young girl was found, 20 years old, she drowned in what looks like her own vomit, she was also we figure raped by 5 men. I mean my guess is they got her wasted, then she consented."  Sydney said "oh that is terrible, that poor girl."  Fuller said "yeah her roommate came forward, called the detectives working the case.  Said that she was her best friend, that she had told this Sally not to go to this party, told the detectives how Sally wanted to get in with this girl,  Abby, she is the head of this group. Said that Abby had been asking Sally if she wanted to join her and her friends, said that she would have to do things to be like them, since she wasn't rich like they were. She said that their was a party that if Sally passed the tests, she was in with them, and would always be one of them.  Sally didn't have a boyfriend, and wanted her friend to go with her, but her friend said she didn't want no part of that group. She regrets letting her go, but she had no idea that this would be what would happen. Said she tried talking Sally out of it, but Sally wouldn't listen, Said it was important to get in with Abby.:

Sydney said "Boss has this happened before, I mean death?"  He said "this is the first drowning, but the 6th death in the last 5 months. We have reason to believe based on the friends of these victims that they all ended up at this party.  This party is wild, we have video of it Basically anything goes"  Sydney said "were all the victims women?"  He said "No 1 was a man, 5 were women, and all 5 had had sex with multiple men the day they died, all were found with massive expensive designer drugs overdosed."  

Tom said "Captain look I hate assholes like this, and I am sorry for all the victims, and want these bastards caught and hung for what they are doing, but I don't want Sydney around guys like that. So no we won't do it."  Sydney said "Hanson I'm a cop too."  Tom said "I know that and you are a hell of a cop, it's not that, but Sydney you are a woman ok. I'm sorry, I don't want animals like that anywhere near you."  Sydney said "I get that, but Tom I'm a police officer, and you can't just make up my mind, I get a say. Before we say no Hanson, let's find out more information ok." He said "ok."  Sydney said "Captain, so I'm assuming Tom and I would go in as a couple?"  He said "right, a well off rich couple.  I would get you a fancy house to live in. One that would catch their eye, one that your daddy would buy you."  Sydney said "we would live in a house?" Fuller said "yes you would go in as a rich spoiled young couple, parents have money, you have fancy cars, You having your own house, they would notice, and then hopefully would ask you to host one of their parties, that way we could have secret cameras all over the house, hopefully would catch them in the act of a crime or confessing to a crime. You guys would not be alone in this. I would put Judy and Harry in, and Doug and one of the undercover officer's from downtown. There are 3 sets of main leaders of this club. You and Tom would be assigned one couple, Judy and Harry another, Doug and his partner another. You would all have to pretend like you are first meeting at this party, so you can't be caught talking with them until after the first party. But your job would be to get acquainted to your couple and then try and find out how things go down."
