Confusion

Paul's point of view

Her room was beautiful. Just as I entered, I saw the balcony, also very French, looking over the back gardens. She had a white four poster bed against the right wall, with two side tables. Across the bed was a very old looking fireplace and next to the fireplace was a blue armchair. Opposite to the balcony door was a wooden desk and two steps beside the desk was an open archway, leading to her personal shopping store. Oh god! I could not believe this. This was her closet ! I walked around in her wardrobe, reaching to doors that led to the bathroom. It was a very big bathroom, with a tub against a wall with a mirror just above it. A vanity next to a curtained window and a shower cubicle opposite to it.

I knew she was rich, but I didn't know she was this rich. If she had this amazing house and another amazing house back in Amercia then why, why would she live in a crappy town like La Push?

Alexandra was so humble, so pure, I could never have imagined that all this was hers.

"Paul?" I heard her sweet voice. "Yeah, in the bathroom." I called back. A moment later, I saw her reflection in the bathroom mirror. "If you'd like a tour, I'd be happy to guide you." I noticed the change in her voice. It was sharper, less calculated, more powerful. And so very French. The faint trace of her American side had disappeared completely.

"I have a feeling," I began, turning to face her. "That that the tour would take at least a day." Her lips pulled into a taut smile. "It's big, yes." She agreed. "But its home."

"And there is nothing like home." I added. She leaned against the glass doors of the bathroom.

"Valentin is very sorry about the confusion earlier." she said. "It's fine." I shrugged. "Why does this bathroom have glass doors," I asked, changing the subject. "Did you not need privacy." She giggled. "I never gave it much thought, actually. And now that I think about it, it is quite unusual." I smiled.

"How do you like my bed. You must like it, considering were going to be sleeping in it for the coming days.

"I love your bed." I raised my eyebrows.

"Good to know." She winked. There was a moment of silence. We were standing only a few feet apart. The distance was minute, the distance felt like metres.

"Paul," She started, coming towards me. "If there is anything, absolutely anything that troubles you, or makes you uncomfortable, please let me know." Her eyes looked at me pleadingly. "Of course." I assured her. Alexandra's face softened. She came forward and wrapped her arms around my torso. I hugged her back, kissing the top of her head. "I love you." She said. "I love you too." I replied. She pulled back. "Can you do me a favour?" I asked. "You know I will, Paul." Her lips pulled up at the corners. "Can you give me a few tips."

"Tips?" She echoed.

"Yes, for the party. Like something about your friends."

She started laughing. "I can give you a few things on Valentin and a couple of my other friends, but for the rest you'll need Val." She smiled, her eyes sparkling. "How about we do this over dinner?"

"Absolutely, I'm starving."

"Do you mind if Val joins?" I smiled at her. "Not at all. I figured I should get to know the guy you love so much." She came up on her toes and kissed me, slow and sure. It was like sunlight after a while of darkness.
