Alright! I feel like it's time for some 🍵.

And because it's the end of May, I thought about reviving this one shot.

Anyway! Let's get on with the plot: Days as king weren't so exhausting for Shuichi since he made a council that cover for more than half of his duties. But Kokichi sees that his lover is sad, mourning for his lost eels. So to cheer him up, Kokichi tries to find a way to bring back Shuichi's dead eels.

This will be more fluff... Because yup...

And now... Let's get on with the story!

Title: Black magic

Kokichi pov:

I caressed my lover's cheek gently. Shu was again crying because of his lost family. Today was supposed to be his eels's birthday. Those eels were nice... And funny... And Shuichi's only family. I understand his sorrow, but he needs to not be sad anymore. I can't bare to see him so sad almost everyday.

I kissed his forehead, making him nuzzle his head in my chest. "Shu... Are you sure you are alright?" he nodded hesitantly. I caressed his head. "I'll bring you something to eat... Maybe that will cheer you up a bit." I mused as he let go of me a bit unpleased. He is touchstarved and loves hugs and cuddles.

I passed by the library, looking at all of the books from there. Father told me, when mother died, that he could have saved her if he was more faster to find a way. He told me about ressuraction books and how are some rituals that could bring back somebody from the dead.

And that's what I am going to do!

I looked for it, finally getting a grasp of the said book. It was a leather covered one. I exhaled and got along with it the food for Shu, returning to our room.

Shu was silent as he ate and cuddled with me, not questioning anything about the book. Once he calmed down and slept, I grabbed the book, opening it and flipping through the pages.

Resurrection rituals need some amount of black magic. And black magic corrupts the body of the caster, which is why almost no one uses it. Black magic can change the caster's body and mind permanently.

I exhaled and looked at Shu. He was awake, looking at the book. "Black magic?" I hummed. He kissed my cheek. "I won't let you use it..." he said serious, grabbing the book from me. "I know... But you can't use it too... Especially since it can corrupt you..." I reasoned.

He only giggled lightly, one of his tentacles grabbing the book as with the others he skimmed through it. "You don't know why I was exiled, Kichi?" he said with a smile as he kissed my forehead. I shook my head. I was curious about Shu's past. He doesn't talk a lot about it.

He got up, me after him, following him. "Black magic isn't something to play with, Kichi... It's like a drug... You use it once... You will need to use it again. It's spels vary from simple attacks and defense to even sells that could almost be as powerful as the trident." he said as he swam, holding my hand.

No one pov:

"And... What does it have to do with your exile, Shu?" Kokichi asked, eager to find out more about his husband. Shuichi smiled weakly, closing his eyes.

"Because I was one of the first to use it..."

~flashback~

A young merman swam to his father, looking scared. "Papa? What's with this merman?" the small boy asked, scared as he looked in the cell in which some dark ink was swirling around.

"It's not your business, Shuichi... It's a really really bad thing... I don't know what kind of illness this merman got... But it may be fatal..." the adult said, looking through some books. "Where is your mother?" "Mama fell asleep... And her chest doesn't move anymore. Papa, I'm scared." the young merman said, his blue tail swishing in fear.
