Hawks POV

The first thing I noticed was how cold I was. The normally warm cosy bed I had become accustomed to felt chilly and unfamiliar, putting me slightly on edge. I stretched out my hand without opening my eyes in a feeble attempt to cuddle with Kimi and try and steal her warmth like the loving boyfriend I am. I forget sometimes how warm she is, she reminds me of a cat in a lot of ways, especially in the morning when I catch her lounging out across bed where the sun shines down directly onto her face. But today was different. When I reached out my hands I was met with nothing but cold sheets, without even a trace of warmth, meaning she had been out of bed for sometime.

"Babybird? Come back to bed and give me cuddles it's too early to wake up!" I half shouted half groaned opening my eyes to see the other half of the bed empty. Huh? The sun still shone through the bedroom window casting a yellow glow over the cosy room but the air around me was still frosty. Immediately something felt wrong.

"Hey, baby you there?" I called out again, getting up quickly when I didn't hear a response. My bare feet hit the wooden floor and I almost flinched at the contact. Since when was it this cold? Glancing around the kitchen where I expected Kimi to be sipping some tea with her headphones in, I found it empty apart from Peanut who coo'd as I entered the room.

"Hey kiddo, you seem momma?" I asked opening his cage to feed him and pet his beak affectionately. God, I love my feathered son.

"It's an avacodo, thanks!" He screeched ignoring me and eating his dried bird feed which most definitely was not an avocado.

I left him to his breakfast and walked around the rest of the apartment before I felt myself freeze. The front door was wide open.

"Kimi?!" I called out running through the front door and looking left and right praying that I'd see her laughing at my disheveled worried state. But unfortunately, the empty corridor just made my throat feel tighter.

"What the hell is going on?" I muttered under my breath before throwing on my clothes from last night and running down to the apartment complex reception. I may just be overreacting of course, she may have just popped out to the store and forgot to lock the door ... even though that doesn't sound like something she would ever do.

"Hey there! Have you by chance seem Kimiko Kita leave this morning?" I asked the old woman who sat somewhat awestruck behind the desk. As much as I love to chat with my fans this really isn't the time and with every passing second I could feel my heart rate increase.

"No I'm sorry I haven't seen her this morning. Are- are you Hawks?" She asked and I gave her a quick smile whilst sending out an array of feathers to scope out the street and try to pick up any trace of Kimi.

"Yes ma'am. This is actually a very serious matter would you happen to have CCTV footage of the complex from last night and this morning?" I asked smoothly knowing she doesn't technically have to show me without police clearance.

"Oh yes! Right this way!" She jumped up and quickly ushered me behind the desk as she pulled up the camera footage and moved a chair to sit a little too close to her own. Without even hesitating I sat down and eyed up the screen with apprehension.

"Oh there she is and she's ... oh the poor girl's only in a robe!" She said pointing out the image of Kimi sprinting down the stairs and out of the front doors into the night.

"Can you switch to the exterior cameras?" I asked not taking my eyes off the screen for even a second. So she wasn't taken from the apartment. She ran out by herself. But what was she running to?

The screen flickered to a view of the building exterior, taking in the dark concrete road and tree lined path, which stood in varying shades of black and green given the poor lighting. Kimi continued to sprint until she was at the edge of the camera's visability before she stopped abruptly. Damn I can't even see her properly, what the hell is going on?! Within a few minutes Kimi's unsteady image began to slowly back towards the building and into full view of the camera again. My heart was in my mouth as she suddenly broke out into a sprint and was clearly screaming something as she ran, fear painted across her face. I leaned in closer to the screen, the hazy flickering images making me strain my eyes but I could see her lips clearly. She was screaming my name. She was calling for help and I didn't even hear her. Within seconds a dark figure looped his arms around her and a hazy portal engulfed them before the street faded back into it's solitary existence, as though nothing at all had happened. They took her. They took her and I did nothing to stop it. She was calling for me and I didn't help her. My hands clenched tightly as I continued to stare at the silent video, my guilt suffocating me. I'd heard about the warp gate villain before. There aren't many teleportation quirks, but this guy perfectly matches the description of a member of the League of Villians. They attacked the UA students not long ago. What if they saw Kimi treating the students and want to use her quirk for themselves? What if they want inside information on UA? But then why did she run outside in the first place? Maybe it was someones quirk? My head was swimming with unanswered questions so much so that I didn't register the lady from the front desk calling me.

"Do you need a copy of this Mr Hawks?" She asked seeming genuinely concerned at my silence.

"Y-yeah. Can you send a copy of them to this email? Please excuse me." I say writing down my work email address, my voice cracking as I stand up and walk quickly back up the stairs to Kimi's apartment.

It was unnaturally quiet, Kimi's scent of vanilla and old books still hanging in the cold air. How could I have let this happen? How could I have let them take her? You finally have one good thing in your life Keigo and you let a bunch of homicidal maniacs take her away from you! My nails dug into my palm drawing blood as I crouched down for a few minutes trying to collect my thoughts. They could be doing anything to her right now. They could be torturing her for information. Oh God how am I going to tell her mother what's happened?! No. I can't waste time panicking. I have to get her back.

With a sharp shallow breath I pulled out my phone and dialed my agency. They may have her now but I'm getting my Babybird back and no force on earth is going to stop me.
