Hawks' POV
As soon as we reached Kimi's apartment her parents threw their arms around her in a tight bear hug, her mother cursing the League of Villians whilst her father wept loudly. I had met him a few days ago when he flew in from Hong Kong and honestly the poor guy hasn't stopped crying since and he was breaking my heart. The warm scent of tea hung in the air like it usually did around the family and that combined with the scene before me made me feel a little uncomfortable. It's not that I don't like them, they are some of the kindest people I've ever met. But family isn't something that I am used to and the caring air around me seemed to heighten this divide.
"And you! Oh you wonderful man!" Hana cried pulling me into their hug and patting me strongly on the back.
"You brought her home! Oh son I have never been so grateful for anyone!" Her dad sobbed messily kissing my cheek before doing the same to Kimi. I felt myself stop momentarily. It felt weird hearing someone refer to me as 'son', it was nice but it was definitely strange.
***Timeskip***
"I think your dad might love me more than your mom now!" I chuckled, hugging Kimi closer as we cuddled up on the couch, Peanut resting in the crook of her neck. The poor baby hadn't left her side since she returned and hadn't even managed to speak having been so overwhelmed with emotion. He just keeps cooing and cuddling not that Kimi was complaining.
"Yeah, he's definitely smitten but he's going to have to get in line." She smirked pecking my lips lightly and making my heart go crazy.
"So what about Bakugou and the others?" She asked placing her head on my chest, Peanut still tucked under her hair.
"They were teleported away but All Might is with them so they should be-"
"We go live to the scenes over Kamino Ward where a conflict has broken out between an unknown villain and All Might." The newscaster's voice broke through shattering my train of thought. Kimi's head shot towards the television screen and a shocked silence cast over us like a cold wind.
Images of All Might fighting against an unknown villian flashed up, rubble and demolished buildings framing their surroundings. Blow after blow, All Might became smaller, shrinking down into a weakened frail looking being and I felt my breath catch. What the hell is happening? He can't lose. He's freaking All Might. He's our symbol of peace, our shining beacon, the embodiment of heroism. The airborne dust descended and settled like snow, casting a strange glow around the scene before us.
"United States of Smash!" All Might shouted out in a war cry as his first collided with the villian, pummeling him into the ground and kicking up the stilled rubble once again, masking the camera in dust and obscuring the scene before us.
"Come on All Might ... please." Kimi whispered, her voice coming out in a pleading sigh as the images before us began to come into focus again.
"Now it's your turn." All Might spoke. I hadn't known him personally for that long but his voice and character had changed so much within minutes it mind boggling. His frail hand pointed directly to the camera, black pools with a sticking pin prick blue centres seeming to stare into my soul. What did he mean by 'it's your turn'? Are there villians out there linked to the one he just took down? What happened to the League? Is the kid okay? One thing is for sure. Thing's are never going to be the same. Not anymore. Not without All Might.
"He ... things are going to change, aren't they?" Kimi whispered, her thoughts mimicking mine and her shaky voice breaking the stunned silence.
"Yeah. But it'll be okay. I promise." I replied pulling her into a tight hug and wrapping my wings around us both. I have no idea what is going to happen but I'm not putting her in danger again. I'll keep that promise no matter what. But the only way I can do that is if I know everything.
"Babybird? I - I watched the footage from the night they took you. You don't have to answer this now ... but you ran out to them. Why?" I ask cautiously. She had been through so much already and given everything we've just witnessed I dont want to push her too far.
"No. You're right. It's about time I told you everything." Kimi said firmly, pulling away slightly to stare at me with a new found conviction.
"His name was Touya Todoroki."
