Hawk's POV

I had just gotten back from work to find the house empty, the usual warm glow that Kimi brought when I came home to find her singing in the living room was missing, yet the remnants of her bright personality still hung in the air. I was always a little materialistic but the home comforts around me were more than that. The heated floor beneath my feet and the quirky kitchen weren't my usual style but they made me think of Kimi, and because of that I couldn't help but love them.

I walked over to the magnet covered fridge only to see a pink sticky note, with Kimi's writing on it.

'Gone to the hospital - they lost my last samples or something so might be home late! Love you! Kimi xx'

I smiled down at the message, making a mental note to add it to the shoebox I kept under the bed. Whether it was being surrounded by books on a daily basis or the new found comforts of a family, I had become pretty sentimental and keeping little things like sticky notes and receipts made a warm glow rise in my chest that I couldn't explain. I placed the note in my pocket for later and looked in the fridge hoping to find some chicken to put on and hopefully have ready by the time Kimi gets back.

Just as I was about to reach for it though the doorbell rang and my hopes of chicken strips were thrown away for now. The bell rang again and I sighed.

"Okay okay I'm coming!" I called unsure whether Kimi had simply forgotten her keys or if I had to sign for another amazon delivery (Kimi despite owning more books than the local library continued to add more, courtesy of online shopping). But as I opened the door my body tensed. There standing in the doorway was none other than Kimi's ex, Touya Todoroki. Or Dabi as he is more commonly known now.

"Where is she?" He asked is a raspy voice, clearly pissed that I was the one to answer the door.

"Excuse me? If your referring to my girlfriend I don't think I have to give her location away to a villian. In fact as a hero why don't I bring you in for questioning Dabi, or do you prefer Touya?" I growled back pulling out one of my sharpened feathers ready to fight.

Dabi's POV

Hearing him say my name left a bitter taste in my mouth. The only person to call me Touya in years was Kimi and hearing it from someone else felt like a wound to the heart. It was something special, something that lay just between Kimi and I, yet here was this feathered punk thinking he knows me.

"So she told you? Whatever. You aren't going to do shit hero." I retort walking past him and into the living room, looking around for any sign of Kimi.

"And why is that?" He asked closing the door and coming up behind me closely.

"Because if you do Kimi won't forgive you besides you'll want to hear what I have to say." I tell him, walking around the living room leisurely and gazing at the various photos of Kimi and Hawks bitterly. It's been a while since I last saw her this happy.

" ... Burnt chicken nugget ..." came the voice of that annoying green bastard Kimi for some reason kept around.

"That's right buddy, but don't insult chicken nuggets like that." Hawks replied smugly as I glared back at him. Of course Peanut would like him.

"Where is she?" I asked again.

"She's out and I'd appreciate it if you left before she comes back. You've put her through enough don't you think?"

"And what would you be referring to? When I kissed her? Or when she enjoyed it?" I laughed back watching him storm up to me and grasp my shirt tightly, pushing me up against the wall.

"Don't think I won't end you, you bastard. Leave her alone." He growled pushing a razor sharp feather against my abdomen.

"Now that's not very hero like of you is it? Look I've tried talking to Kimi about this but she won't listen." I tried to reason, even though all I wanted to do was turn him to ash.

"Aww did she reject you again? She's not your therapist and you're not her problem. So leave." He spat back pushing away from me but continuing to point the feather blade towards me.

"She's in danger you overgrown chicken."

"From you and your buddies yeah I'm aware but if you think you are coming anywhere near her again your wrong. The whole of Japan is after your little Scooby gang, you might as well give yourselves up. I might even pitch in and help you get a cell with a window." He smirked sarcastically and I felt flames start to flare up around my fingertips. How the hell does Kimi put up with him?!

"It's not the League you have to worry about. It's the Hassaikai and that doctor." I said fixing my shirt from where he wrinkled it, not that it helped at all.

"The Hassaikai? What the hell do they have to do with Kimi? What doctor are you talking about?" He said, momentarily lowering the feathered weapon in his hand.

"I was tailing their leader, don't ask why. He was speaking to the doctor Kimi works with, the one with the mutant quirk. They are experimenting on her blood samples and they are willing to go further. She's in danger but she won't listen to me." I explained feeling more on edge since Kimi still hasn't shown up.

"Why should I believe anything you say? How do I know this isn't another lie to get her back to the League?" He questioned making me groan in annoyance.

"Because like it or not I love her and I'm not going to let her get hurt. The League is dangerous and I don't want her there either so just help me help her idiot!" I shout back losing my cool.

"Fine. I guess that's something we agree on. Wait ... you said the doctor she works with ... you mean the one at the hospital?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah?"

"Fuck." He muttered grabbing his goggles and slipping the feather blade into his waistband, making his way towards the door.

"What's going on?" I demanded following him out of the house.

"She's at the hospital right now. She could be in danger." He growled before taking to the sky like a bullet from a gun, leaving me alone and angry.

Kimi's POV

"So where are the others?" I asked sitting down on the medical bed I had become so accustomed to over the years. Kenji seemed more on edge than usual, two of his hands ringing themselves whilst his other pair worked busily.

"Lazy bunch those two. I blame them for losing the samples, probably that quirkless intern, her head is always in the clouds." He said back in a strangely cheerful tone, perhaps due to the jovial orchestra music echoing around the mostly empty room.

"Be nice Kenji, everyone makes mistakes." I reason staring down at my now dead phone, I knew I should have charged it this morning.

"They most certainly do not. I will have it known I have never made a mistake in my life." He retorted proudly coming to sit beside me with an assortment of needles and blood bags.

"Sure thing Ken." I replied watching him pull up a vial of clear liquid and fill up a syringe with it.

"What are you doing?" I asked eyeing up the needle as he continued to prep my arm.

"Iron infusion. The source of your healing resides in your red blood cells. I would like to observe how they react to a catalyst like additional iron." He explained injecting me before I can respond. It makes sense I suppose, though I wish he would have told me before hand and I would have tried to regulate my diet to encompass more iron without the need of an injection.

Just as I was about to say this my vision began to blur and my body felt heavy. I could make out Kenji sitting back in his chair whilst another figure entered through the back room. The shadow of a man wearing a plague doctors beaked mask, the last thing I remember before the world went black.
