At the house

We're home. Is that the weather? Yuki says, opening the door and seeing shigure watching tv. It's getting ugly out there. They're saying it's an unexpected typhoon. It is really coming down. Star says, wiping her hair with her pink towel. Uh! You're dripping everywhere! Shigure says as Yuki walks past him and opens the door looking at the rain. Then walks out the door carrying a tarp going to his secret base. Star follows him wondering where he's going. Soma! Star shouts running after him then sliding down the hill perfectly. Miss takashi! It's dangerous out here! This is nothing! star says as she stopped sliding and walked up to him. When the last typhoon came through, me and tohru spent the night outside our tent holding- star yelps sliping. But Yuki grabbed her wrist. You okay?  I'm fine, sorry.  But soma, what're you doing here? Star asks. This way. Yuki says, walking down the path still holding star's wrist. I don't understand. Where are we going? Star says then gasps. Looking at Yuki's garden. Wow, it's a farm! She says. I'd say more of a vegetable garden, actually.  Yuki says. Oh cool, did you plant it all yourself? Star asks. Star exclaims looking at yuki. She gasps. Oh, gosh. You're kidding right? I mean sure, people tell me that at school. But hearing you say it totally caught me off guard. Star says blushing. The tarp goes up and star yelps, catching it and bringing it back down. Well, maybe it's sort of like what you were talking about earlier: a phony kindness to make it seem like i'm a good person. You know, my mom once told me that it was always better to believe instead of doubt. She said human beings aren't born with kindness. That's something that only comes with us later. All we have at first are desires.  For things like food and shelter. Basically, just survival instincts. She said kindness is the heart that grows inside us. Growing like people-- at different rates, in different ways. And that's why one person's kindness might look different from another's so...

Back to star talking

It was exciting to think there were different shapes of kindness in the world. Like round ones or pointy ones. None quite the same. This may sound strange but your kindness reminds me of a candle. It lights up. When it does I can't help but smile at the warmth it gives off. You basically light up my all so dark world. There's nothing phony about it. Star says, giving a genuine smile. That was probably a pretty strange analogy I bet. Star says looking down. No, not at all. Yuki says. Actually I'm kind of ashamed. I shouldn't have unloaded all of this on you. Yuki says, looking down. I'm glad you did. Star says. Yuki gasps looking at school. The more you tell me about your life and feelings, the better friends we can become. It makes me so happy you felt you could let me in oh. I guess that was pretty rude. Star says looking down. No, I wasn't thinking that I promised. Yuki says. The tarp flys up making star Yelp waving her arms and Yuki runs over to her side helping her. I'll be quiet now and continue my mission to protect the base! Star says. Making a serious face. Yuki looks over at star. And maybe just maybe I could act like myself around yuki not just in front of kyo. But, star... I want you to believe in people. Doubting is easy, anybody can do that. I think that's the first time I've seen his true smile. Star says as yuki walks past her and she turns around and keeps staring at him. We'll have to take hot baths when we get home or we'll catch a cold. Yuki says smiling once more then walks towards the house. Someday maybe he'll smile like that at school. I can't imagine how popular he'd be then. Star says giggling. Little did star know that Yuki saw her real smile tonight too.
