A week had gone by, Claire had met Cindy's other friends and gone out for a Saturday brunch with all of them. They were kind and funny, their closeness reminded her a lot of her friends back in Dubai.
It was yet another Saturday, and she missed them terribly. So much she had to call them up and cry to them about how much she loves them, Nicole consoled her while Alia couldn't seem to control her laughter.
"Nicole! She's laughing at me!" Claire cried.
"She's just horrible at expressing her emotions, we want you to know and remember we love you too and we miss you a lot." Nicole smiled.
"Thank you, I needed that." Claire wiped her tears away.
"I was not going to tell you this but your state is making me weak." Sonya sighed. "I'm talking to Seb about getting us down to England for the summer."
"Really?" She beamed.
"Yes really!"
"I love you so so so so so so much, I'm-" she was crying again. "Wait I'm getting another call." She put them on hold.
"Hello?" She answered the call shakily.
"Claire? Are you alright?" Lando asked.
"Yes, I'm fine just a bit emotional." She answered.
"What happened? Okay tell me in a bit I'll be over in 30. I just wanted to tell you that."
"Oh! Okay see you soon." She ended the call.
"Who was it?" She heard Nicole ask.
"It was Lando, he's coming over to hang out and take me around but I honestly don't want to leave home."
"Well isn't that adorable? Claire is getting a little eclair AND a boyfriend..." Nicole laughed.
"That's not blonde!" Alia chimed in.
"All she does is bully me!" Claire complained. "He's not my boyfriend."
"What do you mean? You agreed to keep his baby!" Sonya pointed out.
"Well, yes we did but I still don't know where I stand." Claire sighed.
"Well you better because telling your child you raised them with your 'friend' isn't a whole lot romantic." Sonya laughed.
"But if they don't get along, it'll be living hell for the child. Been there done that." Nicole laughed.
All of them were in silence, looking at her with lots of empathy.
"I can joke about my trauma alright?" Nicole answered.
"Someone give her a bone crushing hug for me," Claire smiled "I have to get dressed now, bye bye."
"Bye Claire! And you better ask that boy about where this is heading." Sonya reminded her.
She put down her phone and decided to clean up just a little and change into better clothes. She heard the doorbell ring, it was him.
"Come on in!" She beamed opening the door.
"Oh wow, your house is so tidy." He observed walking into the living room.
"I like keeping my living space neat, messy places make me uncomfortable." She admitted.
"You're going to hate my house then." He laughed.
Claire let out a little giggle and asked him if he wanted something to drink or eat. He didn't want anything and couldn't wait to show her all the places.
"About that..."
"What happened?"
"I'm super tired Lando...like I don't even know where this fatigue is coming from." She sighed.
"Okay then, we'll stay in and order some food!"
"But I feel bad about it, we can go to see the places you want to show me it's just that we won't be able to see all of them."
"No you're tired! We're staying in and you're going to relax. Now what cuisine do you like?" He asked pulling his phone out.
"Order whatever you'd like to, I'm going to go change first!" She beamed.
"How does pizza sound?"
"Delicious!" She yelled from her room.
He ordered them a large pizza and took a seat on the couch, she emerged from her room in a big hoodie, sweat pants and fuzzy socks.
"Please excuse my clothes I'm pregnant, in pain and cold." She said sitting on the couch.
"In pain? Physical or mental?" He asked scooting closer.
"Both." She sniffled.
"What happened? He asked scooting closer and putting his arm around her.
"I feel so alone." She melted in his arms.
"You are never alone! You have me. You'll always have me." He looked at her.
"Yeah but, like I met this girl Cindy and I even went for brunch with her friends. They're all so close I miss my friends." She cried.
"Come here." He pulled her in for a hug. He couldn't imagine what she was feeling. She was living in a big city all by herself, he was there for her. But he couldn't really be there for her physically all the time.
And that's what she needed the most, the gears in his head kept turning trying to figure out what he could do about that.
"Oh gosh this is embarrassing." She quickly drew away from him, burying her face in her hands.
"It's not embarrassing, I need to know how you're doing and I'm glad you're honest about it." He smiled.
He just always knew what to say, and that is what made her smile. The pizza was here, after a while of scrolling they finally settled on watching an animated movie.
"That was a nice movie wasn't it?" He asked turning towards her.
She had a fallen asleep, with a smile curved on her lips and her arms wrapped around his bicep. She looked so peaceful it didn't feel right to disturb her. He got a her a blanket and put it on her.
It was getting late and he had an early day tomorrow, he really wanted to stay but he couldn't. He called up Jon and told him he was on his way back.
"You know what Jon, I actually quite like this."
"What is 'this'? Can you be a little more specific."
"I enjoyed doing absolutely nothing with her, just sitting back and watching a movie."
"Did you actually watch the movie?"
"Oh my gosh Jon!"
"I'm kidding! But I can't tell with you kids anymore."
"Oh my God Jon just shut up. I'll see you tomorrow."
