Chapter 15: The Ecto-Purifier

Later that night, I disappeared in search of the laboratory. When I found it, I turned myself invisible and roamed around the room. "Something's wrong here..." I said, landing in the middle of the room again, turning visible. "Even if mom was crazy enough to marry Vlad, there's no way she'd give up ghost hunting to become a Milk Maid!" I exclaimed, placing my hand on the counter beside me. Suddenly, I had an idea. I phased through the floor, and found another lab down below. "I knew it! Now all I need is...Yes! A portal!" I looked at the portal that had a heart shaped in the middle of the doors. "Now I can get to Clockwork-" I heard a hatch open and mom fell down to the floor behind me. 

She was wearing her signature blue jumpsuit with the Fenton Weasel in her hand. "Eat Maddie Weasel, ghost!" She shouted at me, pointing the vacuum suction at me. I started getting sucked inside and I screamed. 

"Wait," I tried to say, "You don't understand...!"

A moment later, I woke up and saw mom looming over me. "Oh, you're awake?" She asked, and I saw a laser pointer on the ceiling. "Good. I have some questions for you." I gritted my teeth in fear as I saw my hands and ankles bound to the table. Mom pressed the button on the side of the laser machine and it started whirring to life. "Let's start with 'who are you'? And why are you snooping around my secret lab?!"

She grabbed the laser and extended it out towards me. "Wait!" I pleaded. "What are you doing?!" The green laser pointed at the table, and it inched closer to me. "Stop!"

"Oh, scream all you want, ghost." She said, stopping the laser from firing. "This lab is totally sound proof. It has to be, or my husband will find out about it. Now, I ask you again. Who are you?!"

"I'm...your son." Mom gasped when I told her. "Yours and Jack Fenton's..."

"Liar." She said. "I haven't seen Jack Fenton in years. He blamed me for the accident that gave him his powers. Vlad told me so. We ran away here to escape his ghostly wrath."

I crossed my eyebrows together. "What? That's insane!" I said. "He's still totally in love with you." 

"It's true, Maddie." Mom turned around to look at dad floating down. "It's always been true."

"Jack?" She called out to him, and she frowned. "But, Vlad told me you never wanted to see me again."

Dad walked over to her and also frowned, "I never stopped wanting to see you. I just couldn't face you as the thing you despise..." We watched him turned back to human in front of her. "A ghost. But I had to come, because of this." He held up my wallet. The family of us four, plus (Y/n) and her parents together. I couldn't wait to go back home. 

She took my wallet and looked at the photo. "A family? With you? And who...who's this?"

"These are our friends." Dad explained to her as a tear went down her cheek. "Our neighbors. They're supposed to help us hunt ghosts." 

"Oh, Jack!" She said, and hugged him. Then she turned to me on the table. "And that's why you called me mom at the door." She turned off the laser machine and freed me. "You must be our son from an alternate timeline!" 

They came towards me and hugged me both. I smiled to myself, "The one good thing about having scientist parents - alternate timeline, totally valid excuse." 

"So...where's our little alternate daughter, Davy?" Dad asked me, pointing at me on the photo. 

"It's Danny." I corrected. 

"It's still dumb." He said, and I laughed lightly.

"It's a little complicated." I said. 

Mom went over to her controls and started typing in keywords. "Clockwork, right?" she asked.
