________••••••••________

| Arthur's POV |

I gasped as I came back into myself, Caera pulled the stone from my grasp as she threw it off to the side. I feel to my hands and knees as the world around me crumbled away. I took a shuttering breath, releasing a blood curdling scream from the depths of my soul.

I slammed my fist into the marble floor, creating craters at the force of the impact. Aether seeped into the air around me as my daunting aura damped the room. Tears streamed down my face as I screamed out in agony.

All of my emotions were battling each other, but pure unadulterated anger won over everything. How?! How the fuck did they find her?! She should've been in the sanctuary!

Nico and Agrona fuckin killed them.

They murdered them.

I'm. Going to fucking. Kill. Them. Both.

I was pulled from the depths of my mind by Caera who was calling out to me. She sat on her knees in front of me, hands on my shoulders, shaking me out of my rage. She watch me cautiously as I sat up, head tilled back as I laughed. She backed away from me and slowly stood. Regis rummaged through my memories mentally until he found what I had just witnessed.

If he had a human form, I'm pretty sure he would've paled.

He said in silence, watching my memories and stopping midway. He looked at me, not with pity, but sorrow. Which was odd for him seeing as he turns everything into comedic relief. I wiped away my tears, standing up and walking towards the portal.

"Wait Grey there are—" before she could finish, I walked through the portal, stepping outside. Immediately, I was surrounded by men with weapons drawn and pointing at me. My temper flared once more, forcing them all to step back. Caera stepped out of the portal behind me and Regis hopped back into my body, taking refuge in my core.

"Ascender Grey blood unknown, you are here by under arrest for the murders of the Granbel siblings." A guard recited from the scroll he was holding.

"Caera! There you are! Come quickly, get away from that man. We are going home." A woman with greyish white hair said as she motioned for Caera.

"What do you mean murder? Grey didn't murder anyone." Caera blatantly ignored the woman as she walked to stand in front of me. She tensed as the guards moved forward with the tips of their weapons pointed at us.

"Caera! Get over here now!" The woman, who I am assuming is her mother, yelled as she glared at my companion. Caera shot a piercing glare at the woman, who flinched just slightly before regaining composure. "Caera, go." I said as I watched the guards.
