|Windsom's POV|

My chest felt heavy, as though it would collapse. His words repeated over and over In my mind, a never ending mantra that spelled out the death of the entire race of us Ausuras. My chest heaved as I dart across the bridge, my footfalls unusually loud in my ears, coupled with the sound of my heart beating against my ribs.

The feeling of his daunting pressure never left me, even when I did leave. Such bloodlust shouldn't ever have come from a lesser being of all things.

From him.

My blood was running cold as I stepped foot through the enormous threshold of the Indrath clan castle. The guards were quick to let me through, especially upon seeing me without Taci, the young Ausura I left with.

I ran through the halls, my gate never faltering even though it felt as though my legs were slowly starting to lock up. Before I knew it, I was standing in front of the wide elegant doors.

"Open it. NOW!!" My voice wavered in my ears as it echoes around the corridors. The weaponized guards are quick to follow my orders and the doors creak open. Before the doors could even open half way, I raced in to find the clan, the elder representatives of their clans and lord Indrath sitting comfortably on his throne with his wife. I hadn't even realized Aldir had entered the throne room with me.

"Windsom, what is it?" The lords voice bore down on me, making me take a knee immediately afterwards, Aldir following my action as we kneel to him. Cold sweat forms on my face, my heart still racing despite being out of danger.

No.

Danger still lingers.

"M-my lord, the current plan has failed. The Dicathian people s-still live, and there is an ancient mage with them." I couldn't pace myself, stuttering like an incompetent child. I damned myself, feeling the weight of the silence that accompanied my report.

"An Ancient mage? And what of Taci?" Even though his voice sounded soothing, like a beaconing call of eternal peace, I knew better than to believe I was safe. I didn't have to look up to feel the eyes around me boring holes into my being, yet that's not what frightened me, it was the glaring eyes of my lord.

"Yes, my lord. An Ancient mage was what was protecting the lower parts of the sanctuary. Those lessers somehow found him, and he is protecting them. But that isn't the issue." Looking up, The lord simply gestures for me to continue on.

"When young Taci and I first entered, we encountered the Ancient mage, who was a formidable opponent. He nearly took Taci down, yet failed in battle because of the aether canceling device. Taci killed him. I saw his blade run through that lesser but afterwards..." I stand from my kneeling position, my eyes frantically settling on the lord and his wife, who stares at me with condescending yet questioning eyes.
