As soon as I heard my dad snoring I made sure to get everything out quietly. The first thing I did was blow up all the balloons, which is extremely hard to do quietly, and whenever I heard my dad not snoring I stopped moving completely. It was a process the whole night. It was the big 40!!! Wow he's getting old. I made sure to let everyone know he was turning 40, by putting balloons in the shape of a 4 and 0, don't ask me how, I had to watch a tutorial.

I put those up. I basically just made everything a dark blue and white. Except for our happy birthday banner, that was from my 15th birthday, so it was red for the most part. So ya know patriotic, just for captain america, totally did that on purpose. I was just glad I had ear buds, or else I would have not stayed up. It was currently 3 am, and I was almost done. Except we had no cake, so I don't know what to do about that.

I should probably text grandma tomorrow, actually call her. I also need to invite people, I'm thinking just family, and like two of his friends. When I finished, I cleaned up everything that was not necessary anymore, and got started on his gift. I went to my moms box, and got the baby photos out. They were in an old album, that looked like water got spilled.

So I took out the photos, and decided to frame them. After framing, I put them in a bag, and let it be on the table. Once I was fully done, I went to my room. It was like 4 am, and I was actually tired, I swear my dad better wake up at like 11.

________time skip_____

It was officially morning, and I ended up waking up around 10, which was still earlier than my dad. I decided to make breakfast. He is getting bacon and eggs, which the bacon lured out Dodger, and totally didn't give him piece.

When my dad finally came out, over here looking like he barely got sleep. "Good Morning forty year old." He sat down and looked at me. "Im old. Also goodmorning." He didn't notice anything until he looked around, he got up from his chair and walked around.

"When did you do this?"

"When you fell asleep."

"Thank you, I honestly thought we weren't gonna do anything, especially you because of honestly payback."

"OH yeah! I forgot that you forgot my birthday. See I could've been petty but its not in my nature. Not like I just forgot because it didn't matter, and I was okay with it."

"I still feel bad."

"Well don't because I didn't even remember."

We sat down again to eat. After we did, I just cleaned up whatever I hadn't, and also told my dad to stay in pajamas, because I have an idea. I called my grandma, telling her the details, and she also agreed to bring cake. I also called my Tia Carly, luckily they didn't have anything planned, also told them the whole theme.

I decided not to tell my dad's friends, just because I'm not sure if it would be better not to mix friends and family, i'm not sure. Also uncle scott knew about the party, but for obvious reasons is not able to attend.

I made sure to make food, well some, also told people if it was at all possible to bring things. Look, it was a last minute thing. Ya know don't judge me. I thought it would be fun to have a pajama party, so that's what we're doing. I also told my dad about it and he loved the idea, so we're doing it.

When people arrived, meaning family, everything was fun. We played some games, like musical chairs, stuff like that. Also feel like it was a good thing to also just see family, after being gone for so long.

We sang happy birthday, and cut the cake, of course after taking thousands of photos, which was annoying by the way. Also may have smashed my dad's face into the cake, and then ran when he tried to get it on me. I didn't do the whole cake, I just did the piece he already had. Covid Friendly.

When he stopped chasing me, I decided to clean up a bit, trying to make less room. My dad made a big deal about having a speech, mostly because he thought it would be funny. He waved me over to him, and put his arm around me.

"First, thank you everyone for coming, I was not aware I was going to have a party today."

"Neither were we." Tia Carly said.

"Yeah-I planned this at 3 am."

"Thank you to my daughter, for planning this, at three am apparently, I'm assuming because you were getting used to time differences."

"Totally."

"Anyway I'm old now, and goodnight."

"It's his bedtime, as a senior citizen he needs at least ten hours of sleep."

I walked away, and he basically looked like he was done with me. It's official, it took him a day to get annoyed with me again, after being apart for so long. Our father daughter duo is back to normal, although I think we need a new normal.

The party ended at like 11, and my dad helped me clean up. Afterwards I got ready for bed, and said goodnight to my dad. I was actually tired, for once.
