Y/n your turn to drive

After falling asleep for a while you wake up, feeling the car at a stop.

You look out the window, seeing you're at a small gas station. Your dad's getting out of the car, to get some gas.

You look back and see Kate asleep, leaning her head on the car door.

You unbuckle and open your car door, jumping down from the sear and stretching.

"What're you doing?" He asks, noticing you walking around to the other side of the car.

"Sitting in the backseat." You say, opening the car door, then sitting down.

He sighs, and gets back in the car, after pumping the gas.

"Who much longer do we have to drive?" You ask tired.

"It's just a little past eleven, so I have to drive like eight more hours." He says, emphasizing on him being the one driving.

"In an hour I'll drive." You say, trying to please him.

He buckles up and starts the car again.
You buckle up in the middle of the the backseat, next to Kate.

She wakes up when she feels you sit next to her.

"Go back to bed." You say quietly, as she stretches in her seat.

"What time is it?" She asks, tiredly.

"Just a little past eleven." You answer.

She leans her head on your shoulder, and you lean your head on hers.

You try to fall asleep again, but you slept long enough that you aren't tired anymore.

You look at all the signs as you pass by, entering one county line then another, then another, each one looking practically the same as the last.

You zone out, looking at the few cars passing by every couple of.

He pulls over and puts the truck in park.

"Y/n your turn to drive." He says, making you refocus on what was happening around you.

He pulled the truck over on the side of the road, getting out and moving to the passengers seat.

You carefully lay Kate's head back to where she was leaning it on the car window before.

You get out and move to the drivers seat.

You scoot the seat forward, so it's more comfortable, and practical.

Within minutes he's already asleep. You look in the rearview mirror every once in a while, checking on Kate and if she was still asleep.

Why did you say you would drive in an hour, it's terrible driving through some if these states.
