O Boy

The walls were crisp white, floorboards were pale grey that was the only thing I could look at while my father and mother were choosing my fate. My brother was being confident a little too confident because he was older and I was sadly younger but I always thought I got it in the bag because my child is a boy, not a girl.

 My mother started speaking " Now you both know the reason you are both here. "  She continued " Yes it is true Henry is the older one and would of naturally would have exceeded you Sofie but as it happens, Sofie is the one to bear a son. "And we can not overlook this Henry so please have no ill will for your sister."  His face was pale are his eyes raged "Are you telling me I can not become king? it is my birthright."  "Now that birthright has been taken to your nephew." He stormed off. 

My father started, "Either way Sofia you produced a son and your brother didn't so your line will be from you and your husband, you must tell him when he arrives." I nodded and walked swiftly outside the room. 

I called for my maids "Where's Cornelius?" they looked at each other with caring eyes Hailey said, "he's in the nursery, he sleeping." I nodded.  I went to my room took my phone and called my husband Christopher.  His voice was light and breezy "So what's the verdict darling?" "us" I smiled he seemed worried now "Do we need to worry about your brother? will he try and take Cornelius's place? " "Hopefully he isn't that wicked  but you never know we must be careful, anyway when are you coming home?"  "I'll be home soon." 

Henrys pov

"Can you believe what they said, my sister, will take my place?" I was furious I wanted to scream and shout my wife was calming me down " Honey think logically you are older." "But we don't have a son." "What if we had one?" I laughed "Darling either way my nephew had been born unless something happens to him." My wife stands there thinking "Even so yes his born and is here but he's a baby I'm sure they will wait a few years until he's crowed so we got time." "Maybe but still I can't do anything." " We got to get close to your sister and ask her what they are going to do." 

"I'll go and see her you take care of Demi. I'll be back later." I walked out of the room and made my way towards Sofia's rooms, looking for his royal highness price Cornelious I was zooming through each room to find the child.  One of the maids was coming out of the garden to where I was standing "Your royal highness what are you doing?" I took a breath and looked into her hazel eyes making a little  chuckle "Just looking for my sister and nephew " she beamed with smiles "Her high highness and the little price are outside in the garden with the duke Chisterpher Robbins."  I nodded and walked swiftly towards the garden gate.  

I smiled down at my only nephew  "Hello Cody" he looked up at me with those little brown eyes smiling at me reaching for me.  I picked him up by my hands walking over to my sister and brother-in-law they looked happy.  "What have you come for?" Sofia said aggressively. I laughed "Can't a brother come and check on his sister?" her eyes looked dim and weary "I know you, Henry, you always have a plan when you don't get your way, I succeeded you now you want revenge. "You think so little of me." Her eyebrows raised "Is it not true?" "people change Sof come on." She rolled her eyes "alright." "So what's the plan for Cody?" She laughed "You think we're going to tell you." "Not a chance Henry, now can I have my son back?" His eyebrows were raised and he left him on the ground Cornelious stumbled over to me and I picked him up. Christopher shook his head "I knew he was going to be like this Sofia, we need to protect our son." I looked at my husband and smiled "All we got to do is wait for the announcement of our son becoming  king."  

A few days later Henry's pov 

I walked back into my room in the palace, I walked in and found a doctor standing over my wife around the bed "Congratulations your royal highness."He smiled  his chin was moving "what's happened?" "The duchess is expecting, she is twelve weeks pregnant."  I sat down on the bed leaning on my legs thinking "where's demi?" My wife golden hair brushed against her face "she's with the nanny and Cody." I nodded "You realize even if we have a son nothing will change." she sit up and took a breath " You have to have hope, I heard your father talking to your mother your uncle is coming over from America and are going to discuss the situation of who will succeed you."

"Alright I want you to rest I'll go tell my family." She nodded I gave her a brief kiss on the forehead and left the room. I went to the dining room to find my sister brother-in-law and father sitting at the table. "alright who's ready for a drink?" "a bit early son." My father said I closed my eyes "Elizabeths is pregnant." His facial expression changed he got up and wept for joy "Hailey get your best bubbles." She nodded and left the room. My sister didn't look interested "You think that is going to save you?" "I don't need you being negative about this son or not I'm better than you in every way."  "Son your uncle is coming." My sister stood up and left the room with her husband, she couldn't take the heat. "It is a good thing your sister left." My father said quickly sitting down back again "because your uncle wants you to reign he told me he's backing you. I am not promising you anything but he is going to see what he can do for you."
