A couple of knocks echoed through the silent loft. Both me and Derek's eyes shot open and we glanced at each other to see if the other knew what it had been.

It was dark, probably after midnight. I propped myself up at one elbow with Derek's eyes burning on me. I breathed in the cool night air through my nose and tried to identify anything out of the ordinary. Nothing but Derek's scent filled my nose and I switched to hearing. I closed my eyes and held my breath as I sharpened my ears. Derek's heartbeat and silent breaths were the loudest next to my own heartbeat. In the distance I could hear just the feint heartbeats of Jaylah, Allison and Alex but other than that it was as silent as could be.

Just when I gave up on trying to hear someone, another two knocks echoed through the apartment. It definitely came from the front door and nothing, other than the time, screamed dangerous.

Derek and I shared a look and decided to check it out.

Allison's pov

I knew that it was very early in the morning but for once in my life I hoped that Liz was still as much on her guard as she was when all the bad stuff happened to her. I just hoped that they'd open the door.

I knocked again as I glanced behind me. I should've tried harder to convince him. Maybe then I wouldn't have to be here right now. Just please hurry up, Liz.

The door rolled open revealing Liz's normal emotionless stare and a yawning Derek behind her. Both with bed hair and wearing some random sleepwear. Liz's tight fitting shirt showed off her figure. The sight of Liz's bones kept reminding me how gaunt she looked.

"What's wrong?" Liz asked as she stepped aside to let me in. I glanced over my shoulder one more time before closing the door behind me.

"You're in danger." I told them. Derek seemed to lose all his drowsiness instantly while Liz just kept that same freaking pokerface of hers.

"By?" she asked not even slightly impressed.

"My dad." I answered "Ever since you involved us as your getaway car, he's been onto you. He's ordered someone to investigate what went down inside that house you went in to get Allison and Alex.

This morning I heard them talk about what he'd found. My dad isn't happy. I tried to talk to him but he was too focused. I think he'll try to kill you. And I'm sure that he'll be here any second to try to get me seeing as I stormed off."

Liz frowned and looked at the ground with her arms crossed, obviously in deep thoughts.

"We can't let that happen." Derek immediately replied. "Do you think that we can talk some sense into him?"

"I'm not sure. Last time I tried he didn't even bothered to listen to me."

"Allison, we can't let him kill Liz. It's one way or the other." Derek said carefully and on a hinting tone.

"He was pretty annoyed by me so it could've clouded his judgement." I replied firmly "I didn't come here to tell you this to save Liz and kill my dad."

I saw his eyes flicker to my weapons on my belt before he nodded.

"There must be an other way." he agreed.

"Allison should talk to him." Liz said as if she'd thought it out "It's our best shot of a civil solution."

"What's going on?" Jaylah asked with scared big eyes as she walked into the living room.

"He's here." Liz announced while she subconsciously tensed up. Jaylah's eyes had also shot to the door when Liz had announced it and Derek's soon followed. It took me a few more seconds for me to hear a couple of people running up to the door. Soon after the door rolled open and my dad and his two friends walked in. I'd only seen them a couple of times before and only when they were heading out on a mission.

My courage fell when I saw that they'd come locked and loaded. How was I gonna be able to convince them when they were already this far gone?

I glanced over at Liz since she always knew what to do. She stared straight back at me and held her hands up.

"Easy there." she commented when three pairs of guns were immediately pointed at her.

How can she still think that I'll be able to convince them?! I'm gonna get her killed!

"Dad stop!" I started and tried to push his gun away from Liz. He didn't budge or even look away from his target. "She hasn't done anything wrong. Stop this-"

"Hasn't done anything wrong?" my dad spat as he looked at me with obvious disgust for Liz "Don't you remember our code? She's killed many humans, Allison-"

"She did it to protect others!" Jaylah yelled at him, causing Micah, my dad's friend, to point his gun to her.

"Then you'll understand when we shoot her to keep others safe." my dad stated and aimed his gun back at Liz's head.

"Dad stop this bullshit! Liz is my friend! She wouldn't hurt me and you know it. She's only killed people we would hunt down too." I argued, knowing I had a good point.

"Is it, though? There were too many bodies to find out if they really weren't innocent!"

"So you're gonna shoot her just because you assume that they were innocent?! That's not how we handle things!" I yelled back at him.

"They weren't innocent." Liz stated as she crossed her arms "Every single one of them that I've killed in there had committed a serious crime against an other person."

"How do ya know?" Micah grumbled "Did ya have a shoppin' list with ya?"

Liz sent him a glare "I saw what they were doing in there. If I saw them commit a crime, I killed them." she answered.

"See? Dad you have to believe that. Liz sucks at lying." I lied as I pushed my dad's gun away again.

"And I'm just supposed to believe anything she says?" he argued while glaring at Liz with narrowed eyes.

"You shouldn't shoot her for it, that's for sure!" I replied with my arms crossed and stepped in front of Liz. "I'm not gonna let you kill her."

"How are you so convinced that she won't kill you?" my dad snapped. "It's just a matter of time before she loses control and uses all these 'skills'. Tomorrow is the full moon. We're just here to make sure everyone stays safe. And not to end up collecting body bags."

"So you'll shoot her? For a crime she may never commit?"

"Allison..." he grumbled in disapproval.

"Yes?" a little voice answered from the side. Our heads snapped at the twins who were staring back at us in their pajamas. Both of them clung to their mother's side as they continued to watch us with big scared eyes.

My dad ordered the others to stand down. "You're coming with me." he grumbled to me. For a second I thought I saw Liz tense up but it was gone before I realized it.

"So that you can murder my friend in peace? No thank you." I replied as I stepped back towards Liz and Derek.

"Allison," he sighed "Just please come home. I'm not going to murder your friend. We'll resume this talk in the morning, when everyone has gotten some sleep."

I glanced behind me at Liz who simply stared back and waited for me to give an answer.

"Okay." I agreed silently.
