It was the next morning. The time was 11 am as you, Megumi, and Nobara were at a restaurant getting breakfast along with Gojo.

"Y/n what are you ordering?" Nobara asked while she was searching the menu for what to possibly order.

Before you could respond, Megumi and Gojo chimed in at the same time. "Pancakes."

"It's one of her favorites." Gojo said.

"Yea." You said while looking at Nobara.

Gojo began to do his routine of checking in on his students. "So what have my students been up to lately?"

Nobara responded. "Megumi and I have been training and stuff. We got sent out on a few missions here and there. Oh and Y/n! I heard you were on a mission too. It was just you and another teacher right?"

"Yea." You replied.

"Well how was it? Did you exorcise the curse?"

"No."

"Aww well what happened?"

"It got away."

She frowned. "...Oh. I'm sorry Y/n. You are an amazing sorcerer. You are great at what you do and you'll thrive during your next mission I'm sure of it!"

"Thank you..."

"Nobara tell me more about your progress." Gojo said to her.

As the two of them were talking, Megumi nudged your arm under the table. It was out of view from the others and you looked at him. "Hm?"

"You seem blunt this morning. You okay?"

"Of course I'm okay. I'm always doing fine."

"That's not true. You aren't always okay, and it's okay if you aren't feeling 100% right now. You don't have to put on a facade for us."

"I'm fine Megumi." You replied.

"You promise?"

You stared at him blankly, not responding to his question. You let out a sigh of relief as the waiter came to drop off the drinks you ordered and Megumi was now distracted. You would never make a promise to Megumi that you know you couldn't keep.

"Y/n, I know your mission was unfortunately unsuccessful but would you like to talk about it? I kind of wanna know what that other mentor was like." Nobara inquired as she then took a sip of her watermelon lemonade.

"He was the opposite of Gojo. Quiet, stoic, very serious. I enjoyed my time with him though."

"What grade was the curse you were fighting?" Megumi asked.

"I think it was a special grade...I'm not sure what it was but he was difficult to handle."

"Aww man. That's sucks ass." Nobara said.

"Yea." You said with a huff.

The food arrived and everyone dug in and conversed with each other. Except you. You ate but didn't speak much. You were staring into your drink, swirling the straw around continuously in a circle. You lost count of how many times you made the straw go round and round. The noises fazed out as your eyes stopped following the straw. Those short few seconds were the last things you remembered until you felt a hand land on your shoulder that shook you.
