The Final One

Yuji swiftly maneuvered along the wall of the cave, skillfully evading the streams of crimson liquid spewing from the curse's mouth. Yuji leaped into the air, spinning his body and unleashing a powerful kick to the curse's side. The dust was kicking up underneath Kechizu's body as he tumbled, but the curse quickly regained its footing. Undeterred, Yuji closed in on the creature, launching himself at it. He tackled the curse, forcefully he dislodging it from his own body. Yuji then unleashed a rapid of flurry of punches on the curse's face.

The curse grabbed Yuji's arm, but Yuji reacted quickly. He threw himself overhead using the momentum to counter the attack. Still clinging to the curse, he swung behind it, directing the full force of his legs into its back.

With the curse tumbling away from him, Yuji's eyes trailed to the wall behind him. He pondered about what consisted inside the contents of whatever Kechizu was spitting out. The stone on the cave wall was steaming as the liquid trickled down, burning into the surface of whatever it came into contact with.

On the other side, you along with Nobara and Megumi were taking out the many curses emerging from the numerous crevices in the ground and ceiling. Nobara was going through her nails, hammering at curses in any direction and taking them out with ease. Megumi slashed through the curses swiftly with his black blade as you took care of your targets with your daggers.

"Damn, how many of them are there?" Megumi huffed out as he rested his blade on his shoulder.

"I guess we just keep going like whack-a-mole huh?" Nobara said as she approached him.

You nodded in agreement. "Yep. We have to take all of them out. I know it's a large area but we can do it."

Nobara walked away, leaving you standing beside Megumi. You took a deep breath, exhaling slowly and surveying the vast area that stretched out before you. You glanced at Megumi who was lost in his thoughts.

A noise caught the attention of both of you and your gazes soon locked onto the source of the disturbance. In your sight was a black portal that rippled on the wall as a hand reached through and gripped Nobara's arm. She grimaced at whatever it was that had gotten a hold of her. With voices filled with concern, both of you called out her name.

"I'll be fine." She said in response. She clutched her hammer tightly in her hand, raising her arm to gesture towards both of you. "You guys just whack the mole." she managed to utter before vanishing completely through the portal.

In this moment, you along with Megumi realized a new and unfamiliar curse was now in the picture.

"Oh heyyy! That's my older brother!" Kechizu called out as he got on all fours and galloped toward the hole in the wall. Yuji chased after him, only to be caught off guard as the curse passed right through the "solid" wall with no issue.

"Yuji! Follow that curse! Kugisaki and that thing both went outside the barrier. She might be going up against something even more dangerous than we assumed. Things here aren't so bad. Y/n and I can handle this by ourselves. Save Kugisaki!" Megumi then turned his attention away from Yuji as he finished speaking.

As Yuji's hand slowly descended into the swirling portal, he said his last words for the time being. "Alright. If things take a turn for the worse here, follow us and get out."

With a decisive flick of his wrist, Megumi signaled Yuji to go on.

"Last one." Megumi called out as his blade sliced through a curse. Another one popped out of the hole behind him and his demon dog took care of it. He tilted his head back letting out a sigh and closed his eyes. "And that's the last of them." He finally felt better knowing that his sister was safe from the curse now.
