Hey guys, thank you for your votes and comments.

Continuing from the last part,

Karan wakes up at 10 o’clock every morning. Not earlier, not later. As usual, he got out of bed and got ready for a new day.

Adorning grey colour long-sleeved pajama he walked around the room to washroom barefoot, as he doesn't like wearing shoes.

*****

For the first ten minutes after waking  up, Karan was still in his "sleepwalking" mode. He stood in front of the mirror, squeezed the tooth paste on his toothbrush and started brushing. While doing the usual morning routine, the numbers found under Saurav's bed surfaced to his mind. Karan still had no idea what those numbers mean.

Coffee, toast, jam - He has the same food for breakfast every day. The reason behind it was simple-  he didn't like wasting his time on preparing food. But as he bites into his toast, he can’t help but remember the fish dumplings Monami brought him to eat. Maybe he should learn how to cook that dish... Karan thought. He liked it so much that he was prepared to ‘waste’ more of this time on it.

After breakfast. Getting ready and doing all the daily routines, Karan started doing his work. While going through some case files sent to him from the US, the phone on the side rang. Glancing at the phone screen, he  answered. "Hi." It was Faizi.

Faizi sensed from his greetings that he was in a good mood: “humne suna janaab aapne woh killing machine wala case solve kara?"

"Of course." Karan smiles  "A simple textbook case, except there’s still some loose ends to tidy up."

Faizi is impressed: “Haan tabhi hi toh aapko aise hi FBI me itna respect thodi dete hoge.. Mr. Criminal Psychology Professor/ Detective."

"Waise Monami.” Faizi continues. “kya uska pay utna hi hoga jitna tumhare US me employed assistants ka hota tha?"

Ah, up to you. Yeh tu decide kar sakta hain."  Karan was studying a homicide file at the same time.

Faizi said: “Ok. I am also looking for a new assistant for you from the university. Preferably a graduate from school of psychology.  Kaash aisa koi mil jae jo criminal psychology me specialized ho toh acha hoga..."

Karan stopped what he was doing.

"Wait." He cuts off Faizi sentence: “Why do you want to replace Monami?"

Faizi laughed on this : "...... Hum Monami ko replace karna chahte hain.. hum..? Come on, Professor Shergill. Abhi tak aap neend me hain ya maine kuch miss kr diya janab. Kyonki Jahan Tak hum jante h Monami ka major Language hain. Uske pass iss post k liye qualification s nahi hain. Haan, maana ki she helped u in this case but isliye kyonki urgent tha and we had no time to look for anyone else. Aur waise bhi uski graduation complete hone wali hain and.... She will be moving to Kolkata.  She has accepted a job offer there already."

Karan thought for a moment. His tone was somewhat contemptuous "Obviously tu hain jisse dikkat hain. She has gained experience from working with me on this serial killer case. aur usse fishing karni aati hain. Main assistant change nahi karna chahta. Aur rahi baat uske kaam ki, just ask her to breach the contract yaar.  Office me roj baithe baithe kaam krne wali job ka comparison mere assistant ki position se kaise ho sakta hai? She will make the right choice.”

Late afternoon, In a coffee shop in town.

Monami and Sid were sitting by the window. Even though there’s only three days till the Diwali, neither of them has the usual excitement that comes with this festive season.
