Hunter was quiet and docile as he followed after me. His bare feet were silent against the plush red carpet that lined the empty corridor. His eyes were downcast as if he was lost in a trance. "Did I just use an ability?"
I stopped and faced him. His fists remained deep in his pockets as his gaze went everywhere but mine. We both knew what that meant...
Hades is coming.
"Have you had a nightmare lately?" I asked.
He bit his lip as he nervously scratched his already mussed hair, pondering. "I guess. It happened yesterday, but I wouldn't call it a nightmare. It was kind of different. I felt a lot of ghost hands clawing at me while I slept."
Ghost hands?
"You mean it wasn't a dream?"
He nodded. The day Poseidon awakened, Pedro had a nightmare where he was constantly drowning. Zion was completely unconscious the first time Zeus took over, but he did say he had a dream that night about thunderstorms wrecking havoc over the neighborhood.
I ate up the distance between us and grabbed Hunter's hands. I turned them, looking for any jewelry that signified the awakening. Pedro had a bracelet while Zion got two rings. I frowned when there was no significant jewelry on Hunter's arm.
The triplet watched me in puzzlement. "What are you--"
I grabbed his jaw and turned his head. My eyes lit up. There it was -- a skull earring. Only one on his right ear.
