Chapter 49 : Vessel

The Greeks envisioned gods in the image of humans, 

And they had many human qualities.

The gods constantly fought among themselves, 

And were often jealous of each other. 

Zeus, the king of the gods, was rarely faithful to his wife Hera.

I grabbed Liam's wrist and pulled it away from my sweatpants. He frowned like it was the most absurd thing to do.

"Are you drunk?" I asked.

His smile grew so wide that it reached his cheeks. "Drunk in love, baby."

His proximity triggered the silent bond on my wrist, a nagging feeling that encouraged the lustful side of me, prompting me to touch him as well. And all the while, I had a strange tightening feeling along one side of my body.  Epimetheus' white markings were moving considerably -- almost like it was scolding me for being so close to Liam.

"I think he had too much of Eros' love gas," Zion said as he turned a wooden artifact between his fingers. His irises were searing white as they sliced back to mine. He took in my position on Liam's lap and focused on the fresh bite mark on my neck. So many emotions swirled within those electric pools. "It makes you do stupid things. But he's not too far gone. If you want, I can confirm that for you."

Liam wound an arm around my midsection and pulled me closer. He pressed my back to his chest as he rested a chin on my shoulder. His cat eyes were bright as he grinned at Zion. "That won't be necessary. I think it's best to fill her in on our earlier conversation."

Zion straightened up. "Right. So apparently, Epimetheus -- who appears to be Pandora's husband -- is alive. And as it turns out, he is Henry's and Wyatt's new boss. This means Epimetheus is now controlling whatever happens to Pedro. And he plans on eating him..." Zion's jaw ticked with controlled anger. "...Literally."
