Chapter 18: "Inside the Cave"

Teiro's point of view

THE SUN has risen. I'm still sitting with arm crossed atop this boulder with a jumbled mind.

I'm standing guard again despite what just happened few hours ago. Leonidas and Alistair are still sleeping around the bonfire which is already out of heat.

I yawned. "Meow~" The black cat suddenly jumps beside me, rubbed its cheek on my side, before sitting there.

I stared at it a couple of seconds before averting it towards the sunrise infront. "Good morning din."

I don't know why I said that. Maybe, I just felt he greeted me first so I'm just greeting it back.

Minutes later, gising na rin ang dalawa kong kasama. After we ate something, nagpasya na rin kaming maglakbay papunta sa aming destinasyon.

Alistair gasped. "Totoo ba 'yon? May umatake sa 'tin kagabi?"

We're currently striding up a slope area of a mountain.

Leonidas is ahead of us. "And most likely, Hezuya almost got killed."

Mas lalo lang nagulat si Alistair sa narinig. He looked at me, I sighed. "Ayos ka lang ba? Malakas ba talaga ang lalaking 'yon? Ano nang level nya? May companion na ba sya? Wait. Why would he even try to kill you in the first place?" He poured me with questions. Hindi ko tuloy alam kung saan do'n ang uunahin ko.

"Yeah. I'm wondering too." Leonidas turned his head to look at me. "why would he even tried killing you?"

I went silent for seconds. "Hindi ko alam kung maniniwala kayo pero. Gusto nya raw makuha mula sa 'kin si Orikia."

Alistair slipped from surprise. "Aray! Aray! Aray!" Sigaw nito habang paulit-ulit na bumangga sa bato sa ibaba.

Habang si Leonidas naman ay gulat lamang na natigil sa paglalakad. "Don't joke around. Hindi ito laro."

"Why would I even joke things like that if our lives are at stake all the time? Isipin mo nga?" Tugon ko rin naman pabalik, nilagpasan sya't naunang nakarating sa may bahaging patag nitong bundok.

Hindi sya nakasagot. Sumunod lang syang naglakad nang tahimik. Few seconds later, nakahabol si Alistair at sumabay sa akin. He poked my side. "Ba't naman nya kukunin sa 'yo si Orikia, ha? May nililihim ka ba sa 'min? 'Wag mong sabihing ikaw ang master ni Orikia?"

I frowned. "I'm not that even strong to tame a single slime around. So pa'no pa kaya kung King of Beast? Tumigil ka nga."

"Meow~"

Alistair pointed the cat on my head. "See?! Your companion agreed!"

"Shut up."

We passed through a half kilometer long snowy forest before reaching another bridge. Medyo luma na rin ito at halos thousands feet high ang lalim ng banging nasa ibaba nito.

All we can see down is a gloomy and dark part of this mountain.

Nauuna si Alistair habang ako naman ang pangalawa. Nasa bandang huli si Leonidas, still dense of his surroundings. Nakapamulsa ba namang naglalakad sa maingay na tulay. Eh kulang na lang masira ang kahoy na tinatapakan nya't mahulog sya.

O 'di kaya eh mawalan sya ng balanse dahil sa paulit-ulit na galaw ng tulay.

Nang makalagpas kami sa kabilang side, we suddenly heard a faint growl behind. Sabay kaming napalingon do'n, and saw two pair of blue eyes, glowing and threatening us with its stare.
